The surprise didn't last on his face, however. He had hurried towards the basket hanging on the wall and had started to pack their stuff into it.

Raphael is still there when I step out onto the balcony. He hasn't moved. Wings folded, silver hair undisturbed by the wind, looking like a statue. The moonlight does genuinely unfair things to his face. I pull out a card and hold it toward him. "In case you ever need anything, senpai." He doesn't take it. "Could you pass it to the Throne Angel for me, then?" Not even a blink. I start to pocket it, already writing him off, when he says, "I'm Raphael Sterling. Cherubim awakening."

I had been wondering who Raphael's chosen mate might be, and now, watching the subtle exchange between him and Katrina, I couldn't help but think they would actually make a perfect pair. Titan's sarcastic comment echoed in my mind, "Knowing your brother, it's probably some dirty Necromancer." I couldn't help but laugh inwardly at his witty retort. And, honestly, he wasn't entirely off the mark. I could almost picture Raphael with a Necromancer, it was a peculiar yet intriguing match. Likely though, he had just marked someone and never actually planned to make the mark permanent, unlike myself who refused to mark a singular soul. Not even my dearest Katrina.

He stepped back, his hands covering his mouth. “Here.” Damien handed Seb his slate. “One of my brothers found it for you.” Seb noticed the bite marks. The edges were cracked and the writing area was soiled, but it still worked. [Thank you.] wrote Seb.
