EMMA God, the air in the house felt thicker than the humid summer night pressing against the windows. I was still buzzing from dinner—too much wine, too many lingering looks, and way too much skin on display. Now as Xander has already seen those scars, it was evident that he would know what caused them. This time Emma didn't feel scared or hopeless, rather she felt calm knowing that he was also powerful and can fight the demons of her past. Twisted enough she felt less depressed. Because deep within her heart she knew Xander was nothing like Victor. She walked out of the restroom and found him already sitting on the couch with a coffee table in front that has food on it.
