a woman murmurs. She’s not talking about what just happened when she says Miracles. She’s talking about people—very special people. Radar is a Miracle. So am I. There are seven of us in the District. The name Miracle has nothing to do with Powers, though every Miracle but me has one. The name was given long before any Powers evidenced themselves. It was bestowed upon us at birth. Indeed, our births WERE the Miracle. We live in a world of dichotomies. There are the Befores and the Afters, there’s Inside and Outside, and most scarily, Here and There. Did miracles really exist in this world? When Stacy pushed the door open, she saw Emma and me this way. She stood at the doorway and watched us quietly. Her eyes were red. She did not interrupt and only stepped back out silently. I could hear her muffled sobs outside the door. Later, I heard from a nurse that Stacy had established a care foundation for patients with this chronic ailment in my name.

No miracles are involved. At least that’s what I thought until the previous days when two men in my life came and just saved me away from that goddamn stupid elevator of our building. I didn’t believe in miracles before but I sure as hell am questioning that philosophy now. When I met Justine and Peter, my principles in life sure changed. When I survived several times from this catastrophe considering I wasn’t the sporty and athletic type, something inside me think it must be my luck. And with that, I started believing more in myself. I started believing in the things such as luck and miracles to which I used to laugh at or think it was ridiculous before.

Then they moved forward, carrying Mira and our newborn toward the mansion. “Will she be alright?” I mumbled as the head of the healers laid her back to her bed, checking on her pulse. The others were already carrying warm water to clean her body and stop the bleeding. “It’ll take her a long time to fully recover,” the healer then whispered lowly after taking some time to observe her condition. “Actually, what happened in the ritual site was a miracle for all of us. We witnessed something so powerful and impossible to think for the first time. I don’t even know how to explain this, Alpha.”

He asked, widening his eyes in shock. I nodded. “Yes,” “Fuck, am I really in the presence of the miraculous healer!? Ohmygoddess,” he exclaimed over and over again. I shrugged, I was already used to people acting like that when they found out that I'm the miraculous healer. “What did he mean by miraculous healer? What miraculous healer?” Someone in the crowd asked and his companion almost slapped him. “You don't know the miraculous healer? What planet are you from?” He snapped and the other man looked at him in shock.
