I tugged at her arm, but she pulled free of my grip, determination blazing in her eyes.
“Mia, I need to do this. Stay here.” She crawled out, stood up, and without hesitation, fired at the men in black suits, taking them down one by one. Then, she turned her focus on the girl who wore the same face as Xanthe, her love.
“Ruby, are you alright?” the girl with doe eyes asked, concern lining her features.
Ruby? I froze. Why was she calling herself Ruby? I ducked, shielding my head, as the final shots rang out. Silence fell, and I hesitantly peeked around the table. Lifeless bodies were scattered across the floor.
