I stood up, adjusting the cuffs of my suit jacket, and walked back toward my study.
I locked myself behind the heavy oak doors, sitting down at the leather chair.
For two hours, I buried myself in the numbers, the weapons shipments, and the guard rotations.
Around midnight, a sharp, distinct knock sounded on the study door.
"Enter," I said without looking up from the monitor screen.
The door opened, and Regina stepped inside.
She just stood near the edge of my desk, watching me.
“Yes?”
"The northern perimeter is clear," Regina said, her voice flat. "Nathaniel is running the late-night sweep on the lower terrace right now."
