I stayed quiet. Giving him room to continue then it began to drizzle. For a while I wasn’t sure he would. Then finally he spoke again. “She believed people were worth trusting.” Something bitter crossed his expression. “It got her killed.” I froze. Romano leaned back in his chair. The moonlight highlighted the hard lines of his face. “When I was younger, she used to tell me strength wasn’t measured by fear.”

So, I pushed the bowl toward Lilly and said, “Lily, you’re pregnant. You should drink it first. I’ll get more.” “No!” Rosemary and Jasper said at the same time. They sounded tense and impatient. “What’s wrong?” I pretended not to understand. Rosemary and Jasper pretended to be clueless as well. They stammered and failed to say anything for a long time. In the end, Lily explained, “Mom’s trying to make things right and apologize. You can’t just throw it back in her face.” She then pushed the bowl back toward me. “Yeah, yeah. Just drink it.” Rosemary and Jasper nodded in agreement.

My hand moved down to squeeze her fat ass possessively, gripping it hard like I owned every inch of her. She moaned into my mouth, her hips shifting in my lap. “You’re doing what’s best for your family. For her future. She’ll see that eventually when she’s not buried in debt and has a stable home.”

"Go into that room. There's a brand-new game console in there." I pointed at Mom's bedroom. I then turned to look at Mary and said, "Mom just bought a bunch of luxury skincare products a few days ago. They're all imported brands." "Jack, I saw Mom withdraw seven grand the other day. She kept it all in the closet." After I said those things, everyone's expressions changed instantly. Their eyes drifted toward Mom's bedroom almost automatically. "Y-You're talking nonsense!" Mom shouted as she lunged at me to cover my mouth, but I dodged her easily.

Those same people either died, or they were destroying me. A sob burst out of me as my shoulders moved to accommodate every sharp inhale. It confused me to say that I hated my mum to the point that I couldn’t hate her at all. I wanted her to be okay just as much as I craved for her to suffer just like she had been forcing me to do for many years. “Anastasia?” Mr. Romano’s voice asked as he carefully entered my room. I didn’t even realize he was home, but there he was, Valentino Romano. I gazed up into his beautiful blue eyes, forgetting about the tears still rolling down my cheek.

The three of them turned to us, their faces lighting up. “Dad, you have to settle this,” Damien declared. “Not tonight,” Alexander replied, his lips curving into a faint smile. “Your mom’s the boss tonight.” “ Boys, there are grocery bags in the car, get them”. I said making my way to the kitchen where Mrs Romano was making afternoon snacks for the kids. “ Hey, Mrs Romano”. I greeted giving her a side hug. “ Hello Mi Amor, how was work?”. She asked.

Roman commented, pushing away his second plate of butter tarts. I shrugged, downing the dessert I'd just finished with wine. "We aren't the best of buddies but I'm glad to not be an orphan I guess." Roman laughed, "That's funny when you put it that way. Reminds me of my mother." "Your mum?" He nodded, "Yeah. We aren't close." I adjusted in my seat, suddenly becoming more interested. "You never talk about her."

The thought alone destroyed her and she started to cry as she said, “Not again” “Mom that hurts my feelings,” Roman said when he saw that she mourned his mate bond with Elora. “No don’t get the wrong idea, I don’t think it’s bad that she’s your mate, I’m just sad that no one except me will understand or accept it, Roman, your father will kill her and there are no two ways about it.”

FIXING THINGS “Mom she won’t talk to me, I don’t know what to do.” Roman sighed, pacing the length of Sierra’s kitchen. “What did you do?” His mother asked, he could picture her with her hands on her hips, staring at him knowingly. “We bumped into Cara yesterday.
