★One Year Ago★ Jade sat on the floor, sobbing loudly and scratching her arms, trying to get rid of the feel of her harasser's skin against hers. She kept replaying the last few hours in her mind. She could still feel his body against hers and it made her feel worthless and dirty. And like a thousand bugs were crawling through her skin, eating her up.

Each shared experience, once a source of joy, now carried the weight of longing, a testament to the void left by Sophia's departure. Sandra's grieving heart became a canvas where the hues of sorrow blended with the brushstrokes of cherished moments. The depth of her sadness was etched in the furrowed lines on her forehead and the glistening tears that lingered in the corners of her eyes. The room, once vibrant with the echoes of their shared laughter, now bore witness to a solemn solitude—a space where Sandra grappled with the absence of her dearest friend, finding both comfort and heartache in the fragments of their shared past.

There are fifty cakes here, so Joe knows she is just trying to make him feel better. "You do not need to worry about me," Joe says. He does not want his best friend to feel bad about things they cannot change. "How can I not worry?" Rebbie asks. She gives him half of the cake back. Joe takes a bite but he feels sick inside. "How do you feel?" Hazel Hale asks softly. Joe looks at his sweet brother-in-law and does not know what to say. Hazel had an arranged mate bond too when he was young, so he understands why Joe never went on dates. Joe’s fate was already decided by the pack.

Sadie walked through the rain, feeling numb. She knew what kind of person Chad was. However, she was still stupid enough to believe his lie tonight. She even dared to think he still cared a little about her. In the end, it was nothing but his scheme. He was unscrupulous enough to squeeze every drop of value she had for his gain. Sadie had drunk a lot and got wet in the rain. She had gone through an emotional rollercoaster, and she finally fell apart as she passed out on the ground.

I yell at Adriana. She laughs, not understanding how badly I wanted to look good for her dad. “I tried. You were out of it, Sadie, like dead to the world. Your hours are going to be so fucked up,” she says with another laugh.

She'll be the gentle housewife she was always meant to be. There was anticipation in Sadie's eyes. Evan was too good to give up on. Yes, she knew that she was being shameless, but there was no harm in trying. Just then, someone scoffed. A lithe silhouette stepped forth. It was none other than Jememiah. She looked at Sadie like the woman was a maggot deserving of pity. "What a hard sell, but is she better than me?" "What?" Sadie was flummoxed. Jememiah had a perfect body and a face to die for. Her air was regal and far better than Roxanne's. Her father was the Director of Security himself. She was far superior to Roxanne in every aspect.

And somehow, I had learned how to read all of them. Another text appeared. Adrian: What are you doing? Me: Talking to Sadie. Adrian: Is she still emotionally bullying you? I burst out laughing immediately. Sadie looked offended. “What did he say?” “He called you emotionally bullying.” “She deserves that,” Sadie muttered. “Tell him I’m the only reason you’re mentally stable.” Me: She says she’s the reason I’m mentally stable. The reply came almost instantly. Adrian: That’s unfortunate for you.

"Yeah, that's a joke. It's a welcome back party. EOSC stands for End of Summer Celibacy. A lot of girls live at home during break, and their boyfriends are in a different city. F** you. Sade groaned internally, holding back the urge to roll her eyes. “Oh my God, this guy,” she muttered under her breath. Robert noticed her shift in expression. “Everything okay?” Sade quickly locked her phone and forced a smile. “Yeah, it’s nothing. Just someone being dramatic.” Robert nodded, not pushing the subject. “Well, don’t let it ruin your night.” She smiled genuinely this time, grateful for his laid-back attitude. “You’re right. Let’s keep dancing.”
