he drawled, a toothy grin spreading across his grimy face. I forced a smile, though it felt more like a grimace. “I need to see one of the prisoners.” His grin widened, and his eyes gleamed with something that made my skin crawl. “Oh, you need something, do you?” He stood, sauntering closer, his gaze raking over me. “What do you want in exchange?” I asked, my voice steady despite the disgust boiling within me. His grin turned lecherous, and he leaned against the desk, crossing his arms. “What do I want?” he repeated, dragging the words out as if savoring them.

His silver hair hung over the large scar that stretched across his face. He hasn’t aged so well over the years, but that’s not hard to believe considering his line of work. His face now held a few wrinkles around his forehead and eyes. He may have aged, but his body still looks as physically fit as it did a decade ago. He is not making this easy. She turns sharply to look at him—her jaw tight, her expression incredulous—and there it is. That grin. That look. God. He’s smirking at her with that maniacal smile—the kind that makes him look feral and otherworldly. It's the kind of expression that belongs to someone ancient and merciless, someone dragged out of the pit of hell just to destroy her. That grin of his, stretched with wicked glee, framed by his tousled dark hair and the low light casting shadows across the hollows of his face—it makes her stomach twist in ways it shouldn’t.

"I'm sorry, Sir." His face took on a sadistic grin. "Not as sorry as your going to be."

His grin was shark like and fierce, the smile of an apex predator. I tried to match his grin but my heart was still sinking.

How be it, he relaxed all the same, to face what has been facing him but now with power and an extra weight. Ada felt like a silver coin just fell off her eyes and she smiled. That sick, boyish grin that always came before something wicked. “Then rot with me.” ******
