He opened the door gently and saw her sleeping on his bed with a book over her chest. He closed the door as he went down by jumping down the loaf. “She’s asleep,” Echo said as Brett casually sat down on the sofa. “So, why is she here?” Brett asked and crossed his arms. Echo approached him and reached his face. “Brett, babe. She’s my mate. I have to break up with you.”

Her voice suddenly grew hazy in his ears, his eyes unable to stray from Dylan's gaze in his direction. His legs couldn't take a step forward or move an inch as he stared back with mind going blank before he could get a full grasp of the situation. The voices screaming something he couldn't make out slowly got blocked out as he got swallowed by the darkness inside him.
