I couldn’t shake the feeling that the two were connected. I stopped at stall after stall. Most vendors shook their heads when I asked for Silverthorn root or Lunar Bane ash. One old she-wolf with braided silver hair squinted at me and muttered, “Too rare for this side of the forest, girl. Try Diamond Cliff if you’re desperate.” Then she turned away like I’d asked for the moon itself.

Chapter 87. Lily had an expressionless look on her face as she walked over to the table where Mr. Silver was waiting for her. He was clad in a gray tuxedo and the pair of sunglasses he had on only managed to make him look so much hotter. Lily wondered why she had thought of going after Greg when there were even better men like Damien Silver out there. If someone like Ava could bag a man like him, she was worth his attention. Well, this was the best option for her to get him into her bed. She believed that the only reason he would want to see her right now would be to negotiate with her to drop the case against Ava.

It was different from the last one—smaller, with a crystal that held a captive, swirling silver mist. “I’ve arranged the security for Silver Mountain,” he said, his voice a murmur against my temple. “The guards will be with you, but out of sight. If you’re in danger, for any reason, you squeeze this crystal. Hard. It will alert me directly.”

Over the next few days, I cleared out some worthless old belongings—keepsakes that had been full of memories in my past life. Looking at them now, they were nothing but cheap garbage. I packed them all up and threw them straight into the trash can. In the afternoon, as I continued packing my bags, Alexander blocked my path. He clutched a few iron coins in his hand and spoke in a stiff voice. “This is the money I am paying you back on Lilith's behalf.”

Jolting slightly at the distant ping of her laptop, she stood, crossed back into her workshop, and skimmed the email from the new metal supplier she’d been trying to get in touch with for the last three weeks. The man was squirrely, anxious, and never answered her calls, but from her research, he was worth the effort. Alexa cuts in excitedly. Facing her, "What do you mean by my face has changed, Alexa?" I was getting more confused by the minute. "Okay, you need to see it for yourself to know what we are saying." Saying this, she grabbed my hand, brought me to the car door window, and pointed, "Look.". Still confused, I slowly turned my head to the window and was shocked by what I saw. My straight ebony-black with strips of silver has completely turned into wavy silver with strips of gold and is reaching my waistline.

The book was flat, with only a few pages, and that intrigued me even more. I opened the first page and began to read; “The Silver Bloods are a rare breed of werewolves, descended from the moon goddess herself. It is a line of only female wolves. Not that males are born from these females, but they never seem to inherit the qualities of their mother.” Interesting. There were special wolves out there that were more powerful than the norm.
