Sonia said, bursting into tears, and I looked at her with disbelief. Even though she was taller than me and believed she would become the next Luna, I was her older sister. “I am not lying! Ace was here, and he slept with me! Maybe he used a scent suppressant,” I said, and my stepmother marched into my room and smacked me very hard across my left cheek.

He trailed off, waiting for her to introduce herself. He does not recognize her? Sonya frowned and looked between the two. MJ barely heard when Sonya spoke, “Smith. Miss May Smith; my sister. She’s going to be standing in for me.” Sonya said while watching MJ, who looked like she was going to pass out any moment now.

Her transformation had not gone as far as that of Svetlana’s father: he had empty holes where his eyes had been but hers harbored black furry spiders quivering inside her irises. I’m an orphan now, Svetlana thought dully. It’s not too bad to be an orphan. The Voice is our father. I don’t need anybody else. Not mother, father, or . . . I had a sister named Sveta. My sister was a pest. I bet you are a good girl . . . Andrei! The cry in her mind was so loud that she was sure the eyeless puppets would hear it, but they did not stir. Brother! Help!

I asked them. “She’s my little sister by adoption,” Vincenzo smiles as he watches her from the table. “Where does she live?” “At the pack but sometimes she will work at this dinner when the owner can’t work herself. She loves it here and I’m more than happy to let her lead her own life,” Vincenzo explains just as his sister appears with coffee in her hands. “I’m Sonia, Vincenzo’s sister. It's a pleasure to meet you.” She smiles and holds her hand out towards me.

Tristan strode out and went straight to Sylvia. Sonia was surprised. “Tristan?” “Sonia, we will never be engaged. Stop dreaming. And you will never be the boss of the studio,” Tristan said coldly. Sonia felt hurt and quickly sunk into a grievance. “Tristan, have you fallen for this bitch’s spell? Did she say something bad about me?” The air around Tristan got even colder. “Sonia, she’s your sister. If you call her a bitch again, don’t blame me if I decide to cut ties between our families.”

“You are my sister.” Sister?! Henry looked at his sister with wide eyes, and then at the girl wrapped in shadows, her identity didn’t come as a big surprise for him, but rather like the rational answer to all the questions, where did the girl came from, what did she want, what was she hiding, how was she so strong and capable, and why was the shadows’ lord so attached to her, she was the hybrid, the daughter of his father and Goddess Historia, but to call her sister…

She didn't need to turn around to know they were talking about Daisy. “Careful,” came Mr. Gorgeous’ voice. “That's my sister,” he added. Sister? Sonia felt like she’d been kicked in the stomach, but in a good way, if something like that existed. It was like someone had just told her that calories don't count on weekends. She heard the scrape of a chair, followed by an, “Excuse me for a sec,” then footsteps moving away. Sonia risked a glance up from her drink, just in time to see Mr. Gorgeous (she really needed to learn his name) going outside with Daisy.

In one motion, he snatched my sister up and slung her over his shoulder, as if she weighed nothing. “N-no! Where are you taking my sister?” I scrambled, arms wrapping tight around his leg, desperate to stop him from taking a step. However, his other boot swung out, connecting hard with my ribs, and suddenly I was on the ground again, choking on air, pain spreading sharp and hot across my chest. “Rosentine!” my sister shouted, voice cracked as she fought against the bad guy, twisting and reaching, but there was nothing I could do except curl in on myself, my hand stretching out helplessly after she was taken away.
