Jenifer moved before Zayla could. The sword zipped from scabbard to hand, an unthinking, flawless arc. But Mariah expected it; she caught the blade between her palms, not even flinching as her own blood ran. “Oh, please,” she cooed, “we just finished the prologue.”
The Queen bellowed for her sigiled spear, but Mariah ignored her. She was locked onto the twins, blue light locking with blue light.
