Tears Burning My Skin Novels & Stories

I slid down right there, back pressed to the door, and crumbled. Tears came before I could stop them. Hot. Messy. My chest heaved as sobs ripped through me, one after the other, uncontrollable. My hands came up to cover my face but it didn’t help. My nose was running. My cheeks were on fire. I was trembling. I felt sick. Not just from crying—but like I was actually burning up. My skin was too hot, like something was wrong inside me and my body couldn’t take it. Then—

They stayed locked on me. Watching. Capturing everything. Another lash. And another. Each one is worse than the last. The sharp metal tips caught, dragged, tore. Ripped. Opened. The cold air pouring in from the open glass door hit exposed skin, turning the pain into something unbearable—a freezing burn that stole the air from my lungs. I tried not to scream. I tried to hold it in.

A broken cry tears from my throat. But the relief I desperately crave never comes. The ache only burns hotter. The fire inside me rages even stronger, leaving me more desperate than before. “Gods…” I cry out, turning onto my side and squeezing my thighs together. Hot tears spill down my cheeks. Nothing works. The fire inside me keeps burning hotter. I lie there sobbing, covered in sweat, my skin so sensitive that even the sheets feel like torture. I pray silently to the gods to make it stop.

I walked to the closet, trashing the whole place looking for something, but I couldn't find anything. I let out a scream out of frustration. Going back into the room, I lay on the floor and began crying all over again as my body turns into a bowl of fire. The tears began turning hot as they ran down my face. I walked back to the fan, but the breeze felt like a wind from a volcano. I tried to stop the tears from running down my face, but the waterfall wasn’t stopping. I tried wiping the tears off my face, but the pain only seemed to escalate when my hands came in contact with my face.

They had been waiting for him to awake when a nurse come to examine him only for her to declare to their utter disbelief that she was sorry they had lost their loved one. Her eyes misted over and she felt a tear slide down her. Then another followed from the other eye and another and another. They were tears of wrenching agony. A sob escaped from her throat, drawing her mother’s attention. The mother had seen the wounded look on Becky’s face and had tried without much success to console her. “Stop crying,” she had said. “I know how this is hurting but you can’t keep crying like this.”

My eyes shot open as a scream tore out from the back of my throat, and to my utmost horror, the men soon began to laugh- okay, one of them wasn’t. Tears leaked out of my eyes as I stared at my wrist, shocked to see that now it was nothing but sizzling flesh. It was red and sore and had something akin to steam oozing out of its open cut as blood seeped out. And do you know what’s worse? The fact that even now, it still burns.

Vanessa's POV His arms instinctively wrapped around me, holding me up. His voice held a sense of urgency as he tilted my face up and looked over my burning skin. “What the hell is happening to you?” I had no idea either. My entire skin was burning like someone was boiling water in my veins, making it bubble till scalding hot steam accumulated under my skin. My eyes were watering, making my vision so blurry that I had to repeatedly wipe my eyes. My knees felt weak.

The fire roars to life, leaping out of the hearth in an explosive burst. The fire surges forward, engulfing my hands, but I do not flinch. The searing heat licks at my skin. Yet, my face remains stoic, locked onto the inferno before me. I allow the flames to caress my skin for the heat is a mere whisper against my form. A single tear, born from the depths of anguish, forms at the corner of my eye. Slowly, the tear traces a path down my chiselled cheek and I wipe it before it falls down. “Ozar,” Kaine says behind me.

There was no medicine in the world that could fix what had been done to him. A fat, heavy tear rolled down my cheek and landed right in the center of the jagged sword wound on his side. For a second, nothing happened. Then, a tiny spark of silver light flickered where the tear had hit. I blinked, thinking I was hallucinating from the stress, but then more tears fell, dripping onto his chest, his shoulders, and his face. Everywhere my tears touched, the skin began to glow.

I whimper as the tears flow my inevitable doom approaching. “Put her out!” I feel the sharp prick before the burning liquid enters my heart and numbs my body. I jump bolt upright screaming and grasping my chest the burn still radiating throughout. I gasped for air as tears streamed down my face. I feel someone touch my back and scoot backward frantically. I fall to the ground and continue to scoot until I am backed into a corner. The stone is cool against my back but it does nothing to soothe the burning pain in my chest. I sob hysterically my entire body shaking as the burning radiates throughout me. My heart hurts in a way it never has before. It feels like someone is tearing it in half. I
