Before I could stop myself, I was signing again. "Fine. Let's do it. Mark me." Silence fell over the kitchen as Mrs. Potts translated. Mathias looked between us, concern etched on his face. "Autumn, are you sure? This isn't something to be decided in the heat of the moment." I nodded, my jaw set. I was done being afraid. Don't be silent. Mathias sighed. "Alright. Kavan, as the current Lycan King, you'll need to perform the marking."

she smirked. “I am a man, and I am not blind. It means nothing.” I kept my eyes trained on hers. She smiled, calculating. Her eyes bored into my soul. “Lycan… you are more like a lost puppy,” she purred. A growl rumbled through my chest. “Mind how you speak to me, witch. I am the Lycan king. I could snap you in half if I felt like it.” She stepped between my thighs, peering at my neck as if my threat were worthless. Her nails raked over the blue mark, and the mark recoiled on my skin. She uttered a hiss and pulled her hand back.

A smile spreads across my face as I pull my hand away from his chest to see the difference in the brand that Lucern’s addition has made. Inside of the circle is the same moon that represents my Lycan King, but now instead of the bright color it was before, it is a light shade of red, with a dark border as dark as blood, with blood dripping from the top in lazy movements.

My heart broke a little at that thought. He was my mate. More than that, he was my Fated Mate. He wouldn’t do something like that, surely. He didn’t need the power or influence. He was the Lycan King. The lands he held under his rule were vast. Why then? Why did he mark me outside of the ceremony we were supposed to have? And why did he mark me in front of that evil piece of shit? He all but refused the first time we were really together, using the marking ceremony as the reason for holding back.
