I walked back to the window because, honestly, the view was the only thing keeping me sane right now. I didn't want to think that I would be a maid the next day, serving dishes. Then it happened. Something flew past my window in quick strides, too fast, too fucking fast to be normal. My legs jumped back instinctively, and I felt Aries tug inside me, like she was trying to hide. "What the hell was that?" I whispered. Then it happened again. I couldn't see who or what it was, maybe a wolf, person, or some other nightmare this cursed place had to offer. But before I could blink, my window slammed shut so hard and loudly that a shriek tore from my lips.

Aria’s POV Morning light crept through the curtains, warm but sharp, like golden claws brushing against my eyelids. A cool breeze drifted into the room, carrying the earthy scent of pine and the faint musk of wolves patrolling somewhere beyond the villa grounds. I groaned softly and lifted a hand to rub my temples. A dull throb pulsed behind my eyes. It was leftover stress from last night’s mess with Nathan. Then it struck me. The window… Right. I’d been so upset that I hadn’t even bothered closing it.

The door shook again and chips of wood sprayed through the air as Nathan cracked a deeper gouge into the one barrier between me and his crazed desire. Screaming, I tried to call again, "Art! Art Windsor, I need you right now! Help me!" Activity outside the window caught my eyes and I pulled my hand back inside, pressing my body against the wall as I leaned as close to the glass as I could. "Stand back," Art ordered, "Get away from the window so I can take it out."

ZARA I’m still asleep but it feels like I’m in a trance. I hear the chirping of birds from outside the window, which is strange because even though this place is surrounded by trees, I have never heard a bird sing outside my window. I paused every time they did while slowly getting up to look out the window above me. My heart in my throat. My blood rushing through my ears. My adrenaline… through the fucking roof. If only I could fly out of here using that. So, I finally seemed to be realizing what kind of fucked up situation I'm in. Finally! Maybe it was the drugs. OK… after my eyes started to really work properly… because that would be great and really helpful right now… I’m on the first floor. Underneath the window is an old asphalt car park thats all cracked with LOTS of weeds. Old chicken wire fencing falling down around it and no cars… or big bins under the window with lots of cardboard in it for a soft landing… wh

The door slowly opened. No fools. No wind. No darkness that's out. Nothing of what they expected. Behind it was just a children's room. Little. Quiet. Dust. Like someone just went out and never returned. The first thing Aren noticed was the window. Great. To the west. Right on the sea. The last window. The window the letter had spoken of. The slices were blind to salt and time. And yet the last light of the evening fell through.
