Lucian pushed the body over the grave. The hag began to chant. The sound wasn’t language so much as vibration, a rhythm that crawled inside the bones and whispered from within. The swamp answered her, wind stirring the trees, frogs going silent.
The chant grew louder, higher, until it felt like the sky itself was trembling. Then, suddenly, she stopped. Silence hit hard.
No one moved. The swamp was listening.
“You’re outta your damn mind,” Jax spat. “We’re done here.”
