Hybrids are species who are usually half human and half another species. The species could be anything – vampire, werewolf, demons, angels, mages and even species of beasts. The hybrids posed a problem because depending on the combination of hybrids (vampire werewolf hybrid was an extremely strong combination compared to something like human werewolf) they could be seen as a threat to the current realm that they lived in and if they continued breeding then they would produce an extremely powerful species clan that could take over the realm.
