Bringing my hand up to my heart, I rubbed but it only worsened.
"Sorry," Quinn's cheeks pinked and she shuffled out of Gunnar's hold so she could make a cup of coffee of her own, "how are you?"
"Fine?" I shrugged and she glared at me with those seafoam blue eyes, "no really, I'm fine."
"If you say so," she didn't seem convinced but let it slide when Venus — her corgi — trotted up to her, "what is it, girl?"
Venus howled and then let out a short bark before turning toward the entrance of the kitchen. Everyone's eyes drifted there as if we all understood Venus' warning.
