Selene's words echoed in their minds, reminding them to trust in the shield's power while remaining vigilant and skillful in their maneuvers. They were now protected by an enchantment that would turn aside arrows, deflect blades, and repel any harm that would befall them.

“Magic thrives on intention. If your mind drifts, the shield will falter.” She dipped her head in acknowledgment. Closing her eyes, she called on Asena. The wolf’s reassuring growl of support rumbled in her mind, and she exhaled, letting her resolve solidify. This time, the shield that appeared felt less forced. She opened her eyes to see it gleaming more steadily, shimmering before her like a protective veil. Eamon nodded with satisfaction, tapping it gently with the wooden staff. It held firm.

Its claws scraped against the shield with a screech that made me wince. “Shit, shit, shit—” Hazel muttered under her breath, her arms trembling with the effort. The beast roared and slammed again, harder. The shield cracked, causing a crooked line to spread across it. “Hazel!” I cried out, my chest tightening in fear. “Shut the fuck up, I’ve got it!” she snapped, her voice was strained. At the last second, Hazel twisted her fingers and the shield exploded outward, blasting Knox, no, the beast, back a few feet. It snarled and came charging again.

The correction is soft. "When you were injured. When the wraiths were tearing into your mind."

They had been narrowly escaped, if they were to spend more minutes away, the pack could have been invaded. They held hands, combining their powers, and rebuilt the fallen and weak part of the shield til it was brand new.
