While the nurses scurried inside the hospital building, the ‘strange lady’ watched as her clothes, handbag, jewellery, shoes and every other earthly thing she’d owned that fateful day burnt to ashes atop the watery altar.
While the strange wind blew the ashes around, her naked torso glowed before the altar.
“Traitor,” she muttered again as she looked around the marine sphere, and saw more than thirty mermaids sitting and standing around the altar. She sighed angrily as she felt the presence of a stronger being behind her.
