Smoke curled from its nostrils, and its jagged teeth shone like shards of glass. Eric shifted, his movements fluid and deadly. "Fine," he grumbled. "If you're so determined to help, then don't die." Before I could react, the hellhound lunged.

Its attention was now entirely on me as it lowered its head, growling at me. The hellhound was ready to drag me with it back to where it came as it lunged forward with a speed rivaled by that of a vampire. I pulled the surrounding shadows, catching the hellhound midair as it jumped towards me. I hurled it hard and fast, making it hit a tree in the distance so hard that it knocked it over. The ground shook, and the woods came to life from the sound of the fallen tree.
