I was overpowered by guilt and I couldn't help but regret my action. What is happening to me?

I giggled, wiping the back of my hand across my forehead to clear the sweat. “Wasn’t you that told me to never underestimate you?” He remembered that? “And you told me my arrogance won’t matter when it counts,” I reminded him. “Which I don’t even know what you mean by that.” He shrugged. “You caught me off guard, but that won’t always happen,” he explained. “Don’t let your big head distract you.” “My big head?” I scoffed, folding my arms across my chest. “I can beat you any day any time.”

Ok, I better retrace this question cos it seems am going too far. " Am sorry,I went too far". My head raising up to his face, his silence speaking volume.

He cocked his head to the side, his brows furrowed. “I just overworked myself,” I said sheepishly. I was starting to feel a little frustrated. Yes, I worked too hard for a few days. But so what? I wasn’t the first person to do that. And it wasn’t even my fault. Our company was in trouble. I had to work that hard, for our company. It was just an honest mistake. But this was all starting to feel a little ‘over the top’. I’d fainted. That was all. And I was a bit dehydrated. Did that really warrant all this fuss?

"It's not what you think..." Shit! How do I get out of this? How will I explain myself? Light bulb, appear over my head, please... She moved closer, her lingering gaze fixed on me as her head quirked up slightly, nudging me to speak. "Miss Ross, um... that's not a thing; it's... it's um um..." I stammered uncontrollably, cracking my brains for a better excuse. But no idea came! I was usually good at solving situations like this, but this time around, I was at the edge of the tallest mountain.

I cried out. I was trying so hard to understand him and to just not overthink the situation but the more I thought about it, the more I thought about it at the same time. I ran my finger through my hair, massaging my scalp because my head was banging. Just how do we look past it? Just how do I act fine. “How do we go back to what we have? We just got together and all of this?”

I groaned and hit my head against the wheel. What the hell was wrong with me?

Killian mutters in my head. I threw my head back, staring at the ceiling, feeling helpless once again.

Something that felt like a sack came over my head and I thought. “Not again!”
