I leaned in, my eyes scanning the damage. “Did you run tests on him? What's the cause of death?” Lyra answered; she was the one in charge of things like that. “I checked his body. As you can see, he was beaten. But then, there's that cut in his head. I think it was what took him out first. Before anything else.”

“Still stable. Still unconscious. But this is normal with the blood loss he had. He’ll wake when his body’s ready.” I nodded, but my chest didn’t loosen. My phone buzzed. Unknown number. I stepped into the hallway before answering. “Salvatore.” A familiar voice came through the line. “Ricci.” Juan. My spine straightened. “What do you want?” “I’m calling about a truce,” he said. “I didn’t approve what Hector did. I didn’t sanction the attack. I’m working on getting a location on him.” I didn’t say anything. Juan continued, “I know you don’t trust me. You shouldn’t. But I’m not stupid enough to take on the Riccis and the O’Connells together. Hector acted alone. I want to make that clear.”

He was handsome with prominent mixed race facial features. He had deep eyes, a sharp nose, and high cheekbones with a slight curl at the corner of his lips, which seemed like a king's dominant smile. Upon seeing that face, A smile escaped from Nathan's lips. "Adrian Sanchez!" Adrian Sanchez was the genius from the Sanchez Family. He began his business empire when he was only 25 years old and became the youngest family head that the Sanchez Family ever had. However, he had some how gotten entangled with the Hex.

“I’ll keep you safe.” I laughed out loud. “You might be a badass, but do you know what those assholes in Philly did to my dad? You don’t stand a chance.” He pulled out a roll of bandages. “A lot of those assholes are dead. The De Lucas, Niccolo Marino, even Andre Bianchi.” My mouth fell open. How was that possible? So much had changed in just the last five months. “Who killed them?” I asked. “Killian Ricci.” He wound the bandages around my foot, clamped them, then gestured for the other one.

I dare say he looks at me the same way Elijah does. Zack keeps ranting, oblivious to the fact that no one is listening. “…I dragged my girlfriend by the hair because she wouldn’t listen! I was nice! "You don't know what you're going up again—” I cut him off. "Oh, shut up. I could say the same for you. Did you know what you were going up against when you sanctioned that hit, Mr. Sanchez? Although, I'd like to assume you didn't come all the way here just to talk about your nuisance of a brother." I scoffed. Ricardo stood still, his eyes reddening while he continued to mumble incoherently under his breath. His jaw clenched so tight, the veins in his head becoming pronounced, his hands curled into fists—he was completely transformed.

They had gotten along right away, and Zane had offered to give dad a tour of our pack. As for Ricky, my brother and I- we have been talking nonstop. It wasn't until now, that I realized many things. As I sat next to my brother, watching him carefully... I couldn't help but see his many scars. He was no longer the little kid I once remembered. He was a man full of scars. Scars that almost cost his life many times. I cried during my first months in this pack, knowing Ricky was out there fighting, hoping he came back alive.
