She wanted to divert the woman's intrigued gaze.
"I was waiting for you. I get bored alone in your impeccable apartment. What's going on with you?" her mother asked, entering beside her. Emma pressed the button to close the elevator doors.
"Nothing," Emma responded.
"I don't believe you. When something worries you, you wrinkle your forehead a lot," Elaine stated. Emma ran her index finger across the T-zone of her forehead and then sighed.
"I'm not going to pretend I don't know what you want. There's no need for beating around the bush," Emma said, looking at her mother.
