LOGINTime passed, and Logan awoke to the silence and strong smell of blood. Finding himself back in human form, Logan is overcome with fear, anticipating more trouble ahead. The pain in Logan's not-fully-healed left upper quadrant prevented him from fully getting up; he only made it halfway. Getting up and walking to the packhouse was all that mattered. Upon seeing a ripped shirt and pants, Logan wore the pants and used the shirt to create a makeshift bandage for his wound. Proceeding at a slow pace, he started walking towards the packhouse.
He stopped when his growing anger and emotion reached a peak as he got closer. His eyes could not believe the sight before him: his dead pack members lying in a pool of blood. Logan observed what appeared to be a massacre as he walked around, feeling a deep sadness as he saw women, children, and most heartbreakingly, his best warriors among the bodies. Quietly scanning for his parents, he listened for any signs of their presence. A sudden moaning sound caught his attention from across the packhouse. Following the sound, Logan ran and discovered his father was the source.
The sight of his father severely injured on the ground after the attack deeply affected him. Seeing his bleeding father, Logan worried even more. “Dad, you need help,” Logan said.
"No, Logan, I'm slipping away; I don't have much time, son. “Find any survivors and then get out of here,” Eugene sighed.
“Dad, where is mom? A whimpering Logan asked.
"Son, I apologize, but during the fight, we got separated. I was caught off guard when I heard Zelda and her cry out, and then I was attacked," Eugene said.
Both Logan and Eugene were in tears, Eugene more so than Logan. The most devastating thing for an Alpha wolf is losing their mate. When one's mate is gone, recovery is impossible; loneliness and despair take over, leading to mental distress. Logan's tears flowed uncontrollably. The loss of his mother created a gaping hole in his heart, a constant reminder of her absence. The situation is worsened by the fact that he is about to lose his father. Logan said, "Dad, what would I do without you and Mom?"
“To continue our legacy, Logan, your strong leadership is key; your mother and I are proud of your upbringing. I know you will do good, We will always be with you Logan, we will be right here,”. Eugene said, pointing to his chest towards his heart was
Looking down at his chest, Logan made a heartfelt promise to his father to always do his best and make his parents proud. But as he looked up, he met his father's vacant gaze, and soon, his hand slipped from his chest to the ground. With two fingers, Logan gently closed his father's eyes, whispering, "Get some rest, Dad. Tell Mom I love her.” Logan got up and began to walk away. However, he turned back to glance at his father before resuming his walk. As Logan walked, the growing number of bodies in his pack fueled his hatred, drowning out the pain. What Logan saw next was the dreadful sight of Julian and Simone's corpses, a vision that dealt another blow to his heart.
Logan's eyes turned bloodshot red as he witnessed his two friends die on their mating day, a day meant for happiness and celebration. The happiness vanished as quickly as it appeared, replaced by a massacre; the sound of footsteps left him no time to react, and he hid behind a nearby tree. Once there he noticed a person walking, when the person was close enough, Logan was surprised to see Beta Mitchell. Seeing a live person was a relief for Logan, but his relief ended as he saw three unfamiliar men approaching Mitchell. To avoid detection by the wolves' keen hearing, Logan concealed himself and eavesdropped on their conversation.
The sight of numerous corpses scattered around left Beta Mitchell shaken and shocked. Upon meeting the men, he angrily demanded, "What the fuck did you do?Your orders were to kill the Alpha, not wipe out the pack.” The three men turned to confront one another. The middle man announced, "Death is inherent to this; sacrifices were required, even from you."
Mitchell let out a sigh. “So, what was the point of me becoming Alpha if I don't even have a pack? Our agreement was you'd take the land, in exchange for me becoming Alpha, not murdering my family and pack.”
“Enough whining, Mitchell. You're the Alpha, so act like it,” the man on the left said angrily.
Mitchell, silent and watchful, observed the three men's eyes blackening, suspecting mind-linking, and questioned their conversation. Mitchell inquired, “What’s next?” once their eyes returned to normal.
“This land is ours to command, and you shall be the Alpha,” the central figure declared.
“Mitchell, will you accept the challenge of leading a new pack? The man located on the right side stated.
Mitchell furiously declared, "I waited too long to become an Alpha; I refused to be Eugene Winchester's lackey any longer."
The middleman declared, “You are to be Alpha.”
A grin spread across Mitchell's face as his plan unfolded. His dreams, and all the pieces he needed, were in place until a middleman interrupted his trance. "Alpha Mitchell, I have other matters to attend to; you and the other two can take over from here. Turning, but before leaving, the intermediary whispered instructions to the man on the right, then departed. Approached by both men, Mitchell felt incredibly confident in his alpha identity. Before Mitchell could react, the man on the right sneered, "Did you think we'd ever welcome a worthless omega like you into our pack?" Swiftly transforming into a wolf, he clamped his teeth into Mitchell's neck, sending him tumbling to the ground. Following a backward shift by one, both men turned to leave.
Upon discovering the truth, Logan was filled with rage. Logan was shocked Mitchell was involved and reflected on viewing Mitchell as a father figure. His father had trusted him completely, yet he betrayed the pack, leading to his family's demise. In the end, it was Mitchell who made a pact, trading his soul for three devils' service. Logan came out from the trees and approached Mitchell, whose body went limp under Logan's downward gaze. Mitchell saw the hate in Logan's eyes, even though Mitchell was dying, his fear and trembling were evident.
“I know everything; you betrayed my father, you traitorous son of a bitch. You turn on the pack so that you can become Alpha?” Logan felt the anger in his heart becoming more substantial, more vital than it could ever be. Mitchell was the target of his rage, but he realized that violence would be unproductive and would not resurrect his father and the rest of the pack. He would have been consumed by a thirst for revenge. He knew his father opposed revenge; therefore, seeking it would dishonor his father's principles and legacy.
Catalina awoke two hours later, feeling calm. A glance around reminded her she was at her grandfather's house, and a single tear rolled down her cheek. After getting up, she turned, straightened the bed, and then went to the door. She opened it, and just before departing, she turned for a final glance at the room. Closing her eyes, she absorbed the scene before finally whispering the words she dreaded: "Goodbye, Grandfather." Then, she shut the door.Catalina secured the house and ventured into the forest as the late afternoon breeze rustled her hair, bringing her some comfort. Catalina, while walking, realized she was looking at a river, a place she'd forgotten until memories of her grandfather taking her there in childhood came back to her. Thinking of those memories, Catalina walked to the river. Beginning to stare at the water, her mind wandered, and it appeared she'd been there a while when a twig broke, causing her to become guarded. She began to stake out the area, her crystal
It was the day The Black Vendetta pack had to say their final goodbyes to a pack member. Everyone felt the sadness on the day of Alpha Logan Winchester's funeral, and Catalina was particularly affected as the large crowd gathered to pay their respects to the deceased Alpha. Logan's popularity was evident, with even the Elders attending, highlighting his rise from Omega to Alpha and his considerable respect. His past never left Logan, and Logan's story motivated other omegas to whom he became an inspiration. The notion is that an omega's attainment of Alpha status implies their capacity for becoming someone significant. A podium was situated in front of the packhouse, where the funeral was held. To the right, Logan's open black casket was visible to all; William, Vanessa, and Catalina were seated in the front row. Beta Bryson was behind them, and as his family sat through the service, each member approached the podium to speak briefly. Some shared jokes that brought a few chuckles, easi
In the forest, Logan and Phoenix walked in silence, next to each other. Each tree they encountered while walking started to illuminate with white lights. Lavender sky with white clouds had small round lights fluttering, resembling lightning bugs or stars. You'll feel completely at home in this calm and peaceful environment.“Do you recognize this place, Phoenix?” Logan asks.Phoenix informed him, "I'm not familiar with this Logan, but I suspect this might be the afterlife."With a deep breath and a sigh, Logan remarked, "I never envisioned it looking like this, such a gorgeous landscape.”"Phoenix, is the legend true that wolves can take over another person's body after a human's death?” Logan was curious."Yes," Phoenix responded, "the moon goddess refers to it as being reborn."“If that's the case, why are you here? Shouldn't you be in someone else's body at this moment?” Logan question wanting to know.“I'm opting out of reincarnation, Logan. After centuries of this, it's all become
As they approached the packhouse, William sent a mind-link to Vanessa, informing her of their proximity and Catalina's presence. The pack members greeted them as the gates opened when they reached the pack. Clothing was immediately given to everyone by their loved ones after they transformed into their human shapes. Everyone's happiness was evident in their laughter and tears, a sight observed by Catalina, William, and Logan. A smile appeared on their faces when they saw that. He recognized the voice that called his name as "William" and, turning, saw that it was Vanessa."William, Catalina, Logan, you've returned," Vanessa exclaimed, rushing to embrace them. Vanessa embraces Catalina so strongly that tears stream down their faces. Vanessa broke the hug looking over Catalina, making sure there were no bruises on her “Mom, I’m ok, you don’t have to worry anymore,” Catalina told her.“I’m so glad you’re home safe, my love,” Vanessa exclaimed. Vanessa embraced William and Logan with hugs
"That's wonderful, my child," Dawn told Catalina. "Now, please take my hands, close your eyes, and I'll handle the rest.” Nodding, Catalina complied with Dawn's directions. As soon as their eyes were closed, Dawn took a deep breath, and within moments, a luminous white light surrounded them. "Our dearest Moon Goddess," Dawn began, "I have come to tell you that my granddaughter, Catalina Winchester, has accepted your offer.” A shiver went through Dawn's body right after she said that, and then she spoke again, her voice sounding different."Catalina, as the moon goddess, I must ask: is your grandmother's story true, and do you accept my offer?" The voice ask."Yes, Moon Goddess, I accept," Catalina replied.“I shall empower you, my disciple, with the ability to heal and protect your loved ones, and above all, to be a formidable warrior for life. Catalina Winchester, your powers are a gift from the moon goddess.” Then, Dawn gently rested one hand on Catalina's head. Catalina's body then
Believe it when you see it; words can't capture Logan's current feelings. Believing he was dreaming and Dawn wasn't actually there, Logan shut his eyes, but upon opening them, Dawn remained. Logan extended his hand towards the seemingly real object, and Dawn mirrored his action; upon contact, they both experienced a jolt of energy. Logan found himself growing excited as he felt this connection, and even Phoenix sensed a bond with Aurora. Tears welled in Logan's eyes, and as Dawn came nearer, he swiftly wrapped his arms around her, and they shared an embrace. Logan's face moved towards Dawn's neck, and he breathed in her fragrance. The sweet smell of Magnolia, which eased his pain, was missed. He withdrew from the embrace, desiring to look into her eyes. Logan remembered being entranced by her beauty, which, in his view, was the eye of the beholder."Dawn, I'm so glad you are here; it's been so long, my love," Logan said.“I know Logan, and I miss you as well,” Dawn told him.“How can t
Following a week, during a training session with veteran wolves, Logan observed three unknown males, and a female from the pack, walking in his direction. Logan addressed the children, "Class is dismissed," he said, turning around. The children nodded and went separate ways. Following their leaving
As they were on the verge of beginning their run, Julian and Simone both started to sniff the air. Snapping them out of their trance, a scent caused Julian and Simone to search in opposite directions, leaving Logan, confused, in the middle. Logan was in a trance, thinking how happy he was for his fr
Just as promised, 6 a.m. arrived, and a hint of light broke the darkness. Outside, on the grass, sat Logan, Julian, Simone, and several other children; drowsy, bewildered, and in a daze. A little past six, people were talking amongst themselves, trying to make sense of things. “Do we really need t
“One more push, honey,” the man coached, as the woman cried out in agony and continued to push. With each push, the woman gripped the bed rails tightly while her legs remained propped up. The man asked the doctor, "How much longer?" "Almost there, Alpha, I can see the head, keep going Luna!" the fe
