Lorena's POV
"You're fat and infertile. Those are the two reasons I want to divorce you." The words left Diego Mendoza's lips without the slightest burden. Meanwhile, I was still standing in the living room, my body wrapped in maroon silk lingerie. I had deliberately bought it earlier that afternoon after spending hours thinking in the boutique. For two weeks, he had not touched me, and for two weeks, he had been coming home late at night. But now, with the divorce papers he had thrown onto the floor, I felt like the stupidest person in the world. "What did you say?" I asked. Diego loosened his tie with a rough motion. He tossed his expensive navy suit onto the back of the sofa. The eyes that once always softened whenever they looked at me were now filled with disgust. "So you're deaf too, apparently," he said sarcastically. He walked closer, but not to hold me. He stopped about two meters away from me, enough to look at my entire body from head to toe, and his gaze looked like he was examining something disgusting. "Look at yourself," he continued while pointing at my body in a degrading manner. "What were you thinking wearing that? You think dressing like that would turn me on?" I lowered my head and looked at my own body. The lingerie I had chosen was not too revealing because I did not have the courage for that. Thin straps on the shoulders, lace wrapping around my breasts, and a cut that followed the curves of my body. Earlier at the store, the saleswoman had said this was the perfect color for a fat woman like me. "I just wanted to..." "You just wanted what? To make me throw up? I've been avoiding you for two weeks because I'm disgusted, and instead of realizing it, you welcome me home wearing a ridiculous costume like that." My chest felt like it had been stabbed. The word "disgusted" echoed repeatedly inside my head. I rubbed my own arm, trying to calm myself down. "Diego, please listen to me!" "What exactly am I supposed to listen to? Listen to your excuses for gaining twenty-five kilograms in five years? Listen to your excuses for why your womb is still barren?" Infertile. I had heard that word countless times from gynecologists, but hearing it come from Diego's mouth felt like a dagger being twisted slowly. "We can try again. The doctor said there's still a possibility, we just need to..." "Enough." Diego raised his hand. "I'm sick of those false hopes. Five years, Lorena. Five years waiting for good news. Five years watching my friends have children while I come home only to see a fat woman." He pointed at me again. "What did I do wrong? I've tried to be a good wife. I cook for you every day, I clean this house, I..." "You cook for me every day? Do you think that's what I need? A wife whose cooking tastes good? I need a woman who makes me proud when I bring her to office events. Not a fat woman who doesn't know how to take care of herself." He pulled out his phone from his pocket, opened something, then turned the screen toward me. A photo of a woman. Beautiful, slim, with long wavy black hair, flawless fair skin, and a perfect smile. "Her name is Isabella. She's my coworker. She's beautiful, kind, and not fat like you. Every day I see her at the office, and every day I wonder why I married you in the first place." Isabella Rodriguez. Over the past two months, Diego had mentioned her name often. "Compare her body to yours. She's slim, slender, every outfit looks perfect on her. Meanwhile, you..." He stopped speaking, but his eyes spoke louder. His gaze moved from my face, to my neck, to my chest slightly exposed by the lingerie, to my stomach that was far from flat, to my wide hips, to my thighs. "You know what? Even a pig is more attractive than you. At least pigs can be fattened up and sold. You? You're just wasteful. You eat a lot but produce nothing. Not beautiful, not slim, and incapable of giving me a child." He compared me to a pig. I bit my lower lip so hard it bled. "Are you serious?" I whispered. "Serious?" Diego stepped closer. He pointed at the floor, at the papers still lying there. "Those are divorce papers, Lorena. Do you still not understand?" I stared at the white envelope. "For the past two weeks, I thought you were tired from work. I thought maybe you were stressed. I even thought of thousands of ways to make you happy. I bought new cookbooks, I learned massage techniques, I bought new lingerie. I thought if I wore this, maybe your desire for me would come back." Diego scoffed. "My desire for you died a long time ago. Maybe since the second year of our marriage, but I stayed because my mother told me not to give up. Turns out she was wrong because giving up is the best decision I'll ever make." I stared at his face. The face that had once made me fall in love at first sight in a café near campus. The face that once looked at me as though I was the most precious thing in the world. Now that face was filled with hatred. "Don't you love me anymore?" I asked. "I never did. Maybe I only thought I loved you, but now I know the difference between comfort and love. You were just my comfort zone, Lorena. And I'm sick of boring comfort." He walked toward the door and grabbed his jacket, but before leaving, he turned around one last time. "Sign the papers. Don't drag out your own suffering. Besides, there's nothing worth saving in this marriage. No children, no beautiful memories worth remembering, and definitely no future." The front door closed. Diego shut it calmly as though nothing had happened. I lowered my gaze to my stomach. Fat? Maybe. And I could not deny it. Five years of marriage had changed my body shape, but I thought that was part of commitment, and I thought Diego would accept me for who I was. Stupid. I was so stupid. I picked up the envelope from the floor. My hands were still trembling as I broke the seal open. My tears finally fell onto the paper, blurring some of the words. I could not stop them. Everything I had been holding back since Diego started speaking finally shattered. I gripped the papers tightly until they crumpled in my hand, then I looked toward the door Diego had closed behind him. "Fine. I'll sign them. But don't expect me to stay broken forever because of you, Diego Mendoza."Julian let out a long sigh, then led me to sit on the living room sofa. His hand was still holding mine, and I could feel the tension still lingering in his body."I met with Diego. We talked at length. And I have to say, it was the most heated argument I've ever had."I bit my lip, feeling my heart beat faster. "What did he say?"Julian shook his head, a frustrated expression on his face."He stood by his claim. He's convinced William is his son. He said there are too many similarities to ignore. The shape of the jaw, the eye color, the way William smiles, all of it, according to him, is proof that William is his flesh and blood."I felt my chest tighten hearing those words. The fear I had been burying all this time started to surface."But that's impossible.""I believe you. But Diego is stubborn. He's convinced there's a possibility William is his son, and he won't stop until he gets certainty.""What do you mean?" I asked.Julian let out a long sigh, and I could see how difficult
Julian's face changed drastically. I could see the muscles in his jaw tensing, his usually warm eyes now turning cold and sharp. The suppressed anger was starting to surface, and I knew this wouldn't end well."He dared to come to our house? After everything he's done, he still has the nerve to come here?""Calm down—""I can't calm down. He's bothering you, he's sending gifts to William, and now he dares to come to our gate? This has crossed the line."I followed him inside, leaving William who was still confused in the garden. Julian grabbed his phone from the living room table, his fingers quickly dialing a number he had already memorized."Who are you calling?" I asked.Julian didn't answer. He raised the phone to his ear, and I heard him speaking in a firm and authoritative voice."Hello, this is Julian. I need your help. There's someone bothering my family."He listened for a moment, then continued, "Yes, I know. But this has crossed the line. He came to my house, bothered my wi
I woke up with sunlight shining on my face. For a moment, I was confused about where I was, until I felt Julian's arm still wrapped around my waist, and the memory of last night's passionate night came flooding back.I smiled, looking at Julian's face still asleep. In his sleep, he looked so peaceful, so young even though his age was no longer young. I stroked his hair that was starting to gray at his temples, and he stirred slightly, pulling me closer in his embrace."Morning," he whispered, his voice still hoarse from sleep. "You're awake?""Just now," I answered, kissing his slightly stubbled chin. "You need to get up. You promised William you'd play ball this morning.""Right. I can't break a promise to my son." He stretched, then kissed my forehead gently. "But I want to stay here with you.""I want that too," I said, laughing softly. "But William is already waiting. You know how he gets when he's disappointed."Julian let out a dramatic sigh, then got up from the bed. I watched
Julian didn't let go of his embrace. His arms were still wrapped around my waist, squeezing gently, as if enjoying every touch of my skin. I could feel his warm breath on my neck, and his body starting to heat up beside me."I want you," he whispered, his voice low and full of desire. "I want you now."I smiled, feeling a tingle throughout my body. "You just got home from the office. You must be tired.""I'm never tired for you," he answered, then he kissed my neck gently, making me shiver. "Especially after you said you'd gain weight for me. I can't wait to see you plump and full again."I laughed softly, but my feelings were mixed. There was excitement because Julian wanted me, but also a discomfort because I knew this was about his strange fetish. His fetish for fat people."Julian," I said softly, trying to steady my quickening breath. "I want to ask you something.""What?" he asked, still busy kissing my neck."Why do you like fat bodies so much? I know you have this fetish, but
Julian came home later than he had promised. I saw his car enter the mansion gates as the sun was almost setting, and William, who had been waiting by the window all this time, immediately ran to the door."My Daddy's home!" William shouted, opening the door and jumping into Julian's arms as he just got out of the car.Julian laughed, lifting William and hugging him tightly. "Sorry. I'm late. The meeting ran longer than I expected. But I'm home now.""But you promised to play ball with me!" William said, pouting a little.Julian smiled, ruffling his son's hair. "I know, and I'm not breaking my promise. But it's dark now. How about tomorrow morning, you wake up early and we play ball before you go to school? I promise."William seemed to think for a moment, then nodded. "Okay. But you really have to wake up early, okay?""I promise," Julian said, then kissed William's forehead.I stood at the door, watching their interaction. There was warmth in my heart seeing Julian trying to make up
After Julian left, I spent my time cleaning the house and playing with William and Roseanne. William was still a little gloomy because Julian couldn't play ball with him, but I tried to cheer him up by making his favorite pancakes and reading his favorite storybooks."Mommy, when is Daddy coming home?" William asked for the umpteenth time, his eyes looking at me with hope."Soon, sweetheart," I answered, trying to smile even though I wasn't sure myself. "Daddy said he'd come home early, right?"William nodded, but I could see the disappointment still lingering in his eyes. I decided to distract him."How about we go shopping? Mommy needs to buy some things at the supermarket. Do you want to come?"William's face immediately lit up. "Yes, Mom! I want to help you shop!""Alright, quickly get your clothes ready. We'll go after Roseanne takes her nap."Roseanne, whom I had just nursed, was starting to get sleepy, her blue eyes beginning to close. I laid her down gently in her crib, then h

I could barely feel my feet touching the ground as I walked out of the Mendoza Corporation building. My head was still spinning, replaying every word that had come out of Julian's mouth."You're not ugly, Lorena. I'm one of the men who likes curvy women."What did he mean by that?Impossible. He wa
