INICIAR SESIÓNKATHY
When the car came to a stop I looked out the window then froze. My house. My actual house? A chill ran down my spine immediately. How did he know where I and Nana lived? I looked at him and a small smile creeped up his lips. He knew what I was about to ask. I decided to brush it off with the other things about him that I didn't have the energy to examine yet. He finally let go off my waist as if telling me it was time to go. I awkwardly climbed out of the car and the moment I got out, the car pulled away. I looked around to make sure nobody was watching. Before going into the house. I tried hard not to think about everything that happened last night, not like I could remember much. But fact that I spent it at a Mafia boss's pent house. What the hell was I thinking? This wasn't how my life was supposed to be going... at all. I entered the house as quietly as I could so I wouldn't wake Nana, but unfortunately she was already awake. She was drinking some herbal tea in the kitchen, both hands wrapped around the cup. "Where were you last night?" She asked catching me off guard. I nearly tripped and fall face flat to the ground. "Good morning to you too, Nana" I said nervously. "Katherine" she called out. She barely uses my full name except it meant business. I was not going to get out of this one scot-free, that I already knew. "I stayed with a friend" I said. Technically that wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the truth either. 'this so called friend is a Mafia boss. One you're trying to catch' my brain reminded me immediately. Nana wasn't convinced at all but thankfully she let it go... for now. I showered quickly and dressed up in my uniform. I completely slipped breakfast and made it to the precint just in time. Getting to work early felt like a personal victory to me given the last 48 hours of my life. But that victory didn't last. "Bishop, Harris wants to see you" officer Reeves said. Great! Just great! I hadn't even taken my seat yet or had a coffee. My head was banging from yesterday. Now that I think about it, what exactly was in that drink? I couldn't remember everything completely. I made my way upstairs and entered into his office. "Close the door" he said. I closed it. Sat accross from him and did my best impression of a detective who had not just spent last night drugged, in a Mafia boss's bed with zero memory of what had happened. I don't know whether to believe Viktor or not. I wouldn't sleep with someone like him. A criminal. "Katherine" commissioner Harris pulled me out of my thoughts. "What are you doing here?" He asked. I blinked. What did he mean? I work here. "Working...?" I said, unsure of what was happening. "No" he waved his hand. "I'm sorry sir..." "Did you read the whole file given to you yesterday?" He asked with concern. Oh shit! I had completely forgotten about that. I was supposed to study Viktor at the bar and go back home to read the remainder of the file. "You are supposed to be off for 3 months" he said, folding his hands. " I... i don't understand sir" " Katherine you're not going to catch Viktor by sitting behind a desk" he sighed. That was true. "3 months Katherine. We need you inside" he continued. Inside. A memory of last night hit me immediately, Viktor's hand inside my... Heat crept up my neck and I quickly shrugged it down. No. Absolutely not. Focus Katherine. Focus. "We need access" Commissioner Harris's voice echoed back into my head. "Access to what?" I asked stupidly. My mind was not in it's right state. "Everything" Commissioner Harris barked, making me flinch in the chair. "His business, his people, his home" When he was done barking orders at me, I finally stood up, ready to leave. As soon as I opened the door he spoke again. "Katherine" "Sir" "I'll need you to check in at the precint once a week for weekly reports" he said, "and Katherine... don't let me down" "Yes sir" I nodded before leaving his office. The only good thing about this whole thing was that I would get enough time to rest and spend some time with Nana before figuring out how to infiltrate his "home". Flashes of the penthouse came to my mind. It looked too... cold. Which meant the penthouse wasn't his home. Was it just a place where he slept with girls? Not like any of that matters. I sat on my desk, packing some of my stuff, then I took the file out of my work bag to read through it. While I was looking through the file it stated that he had a niece. Anya Svyatoslav. She was just 8 years old. I got into my car and sat in it longer than I should have, trying to figure out how I would get into his house. A maid? A personal assistant? A cook? No. None of that would work for me. I decided to enjoy the rest of the day with Nana so I drove back to the house. The moment I got home, something felt off. There was a beat down car parked outside and it wasn't one I recognised. Who would have visited? No one besides Gabby visited and that wasn't her car. I came out of the car and brought out my gun, held it with both hands and turned off the safety switch. Slowly, I walked into the apartment and a whiff of strong cologne hit my nose. "Nana?" I called out but I got no replies back. I walked through the living room and into the kitchen but no one was there. "Miss me?" A voice said from behind me and I whipped around with my gun pointing towards the intruder. "What are you doing here, Iris?"KATHY"Fuck" I cursed, nearly jumping out of my own skin. I gripped my chest, heart pounding. I thought I was dead or going to be killed. I quickly spun around to look at the person that nearly gave me a heart attack. It was a tiny person, a little girl. She stood in the doorway, clutching a teddy bear. Stitch, from Lilo and Stitch.Blonde hair, blue eyes. She stared back at me totally unimpressed.Like I just got here and I'm already snooping around, worse I got caught."What?" I asked. The little girl sighed dramatically. "Dyadya Vik ne lyubit, kogda lyudi zakhodyat v ego kabinet."I blinked. "I don't speak Russian" I said softly. Another dramatic sigh."Uncle Vik" she started, pointing at the room then putting a finger on her neck and dragging it to the other side. She was trying to tell me he would kill me if he found me in here.I slowly backed away from the shelf. She raised a brow. She probably learnt that that from her "Uncle Vik" "Spy" she suddenly said and I ran out
KATHYI should have been terrified.Instead I was excited. This was a blessing in disguise. It was the perfect way to infiltrate his home.It was easier this way. Maybe this made me a bad detective but I didn't have much of a choice. I was still a little bit scared because I was about to move into a Mafia boss's Mansion, that was probably filled with armed men that would probably kill me if they found out about me. He paid for Nana's medical bills and I couldn't say no to his offer, not while Nana was still recovering. So here I was, standing in front of a massive black gate. Viktor Svyatoslav's estate. My heart was beating a little too fast. Not because of him. Definitely not because of him. Because my undercover job seemed to be coming easier than I'd expected. The tutoring position solved multiple problems. I could earn more money. I would be close to my target. Gather information and be out of here as soon as I possibly could. That was simple. At least that's the plan.
KATHYI was in the hospital room with Nana praying for her to wake up and regretting my actions. I should have stopped when she asked us to but I was too blinded by anger. The doctor came into the office doing their regular thing but I was confused. They said they wouldn't commence treatment until all the bills had been paid.Did they have a change of heart seeing that she was an older woman?"Thank you so much for treating my grandmother, I'll balance up the bills as soon as I possibly can" I thanked with gratitude. The doctor looked at me confused."All the bills has been paid for" he said. What did he mean all the bills had been paid for? "I don't understand"I didn't pay the bill. Couldn't. Even with my salary I still couldn't save much because of Nana's constant medicine.Iris didn't even care about Nana's health, I had to do everything myself. And after putting Nana in this state she ran away again. Like she always did.I took out all my savings and my insurance covered part
VIKTORMoney was a language. The only language I understand. Most people think that having power is most important but they're wrong. Money is the most important to have because with money comes power. And unlike people, money barely lied. Every dollar had a trail. You're looking for someone? Track their credit or debit cards. Go to gas stations where they probably used cash.It is so easy to find someone with their paper trail, except that someone was me. I sat behind my desk, scrolling through reports as the morning sunlight spilled into my office. Investments. Construction projects. Shipping routes. Hospitals. The hospital caught my attention immediately so I flipped through the reports again and again. The numbers were unusually low. Most people in my position would have ignored small problems like this but not me. A drop of water can make a river. A knock came in through the door before it opened.Romanov. "You have a meeting in an hour" he said briefly. I nodded the
KATHY"Katherine" Iris said, "you look tired" "Iris" I said keeping my voice flat, devoid of any emotions. "What are you doing here?" "I came to visit Nana. Is that suddenly a crime?" She asked sweetly, tilting her head. "Although judging by the state of you, I would say you're the one who's been up to something interesting" And the picture Daniel showed me that morning flashed in my head and it hit me.My stomach dropped.Iris had been the one who drugged me and took that photo of me and Viktor at the 11:11 club.I still didn't know where Nana was because she didn't come out at the sound of voices."I heard about your boyfriend... Daniel was it?" She said, a cunning smile appearing on her lips. "Such a shame though isn't it. Men can't just leave their dicks in their pants"I knew exactly what she was doing. But I wasn't going to let her get in my head, not today. "Although I heard you've already moved on so quickly" she continued, her smile widening. "And how would you know anyt

KATHYI opened my eyes groggily, for a moment I had no idea where I was.I was in a bed that was not mine and that was the first problem. The second problem was that the sheets were too expensive. The sheets would cost higher than my rent... If I paid rent. The third problem was that I sat down too
VIKTOR Most people bored me. Politicians. Business men. Criminals. They all bored me. They all wanted something. Money. Power. Revenge. The only difference was how honest they were about it. I was sitting in the bar exactly 11 minutes before she walked into the bar. She was trying not to lo
KATHYThe thing about going undercover to seduce information out of a Mafia lord when you're 24 hours post betrayal, heartbreak and working on just a birthday cake in your stomach with just 3 hours of sleep... It is not the best idea.I knew this. But I accepted the mission anyways. If I catch this
KATHY"Forgive me, father, for I have sinned" I said, the words leaving my mouth for like the millionth time. And honestly, every time I said it I meant it a little differently and today it was about a man I shot last Tuesday. I didn't kill him...but still...The guilt every time I shot someone si
