The hospital parking lot felt too open. Ethan and his men moved between the cars with purpose, like hunters who already believed the prey was cornered. They checked license plates. Looked through windshields. One of them even bent down to peer into the gap between two parked SUVs.

Warren’s hands tightened on the steering wheel. I felt it through the seat.
