LOGINYara’s Pov
I followed Judy from a careful distance, keeping my steps light and my head down.
She was walking fast, clutching her phone so tightly that even from behind, I could see how tense she was. Whatever Beth had sent had hit her hard.
I lowered my head, kept my phone in my hand, and listened.
YARA's POVThe claims adjuster looked at me awkwardly and pitifully, obviously at a loss for the right words to comfort me.While I just sat there, dabbing at my eyes, and shaking my head brokenly."Everything I do from here on now, will be for Jeremiah." I said quietly, as I gripped the folder in my hand. "I can't mess that up.""You won't." Beth said quietly, and gently rubbed at my shoulder. "And I'm here for you through it all. Don't you worry."
YARA's POVI kept my expression as unreadable as possible as I awaited Beth's response. In truth, Beth and I had already talked about what we would say if the police ever showed up, asking us some certain questions. So she already had an answer ready for a policeman at that moment.Right then she looked at me, smiled sadly, and then returned her gaze to the questioning werewolf police."Well you see, my Luna and the Alpha already had plans to go on a holiday t
YARA's POVI didn't immediately respond. While he was still speaking, another officer entered the living room.I pretended not to notice him, but as he sat down, I caught a glimpse of the guy, and he looked much nicer than his counterpart who kept peppering me with questions."Well," I began slowly and rubbed at my temple. "I really wish I could do that. But you see…"I paused deliberately and blew out a deep breath as though I was c
YARA's povI looked up at the werewolf police officer with a non-focused gaze, and found that although the expression on his face remained calm, his eyes were calculated and shrewd as he studied me."First of all, I would like to offer you my deep condolences for the passing of the Alpha. It's been a terrible past couple of days for all of us in the pack as a collective, but I should reckon that you feel this grief much more deeply."His voice was calm as he spoke, even a bit kind, but it didn't erase how he looked at me.
YARA's POVDaniel was gaining ground on us with each passing moment."You can run, Yara! But I'm going to catch you!" Daniel roared, and he sounded so vengeful that my heart stuttered from the nagging fear that grew inside of me.I could hear the way he swung the axe in the air, and I couldn't shake off the fear that he could simply throw the axe and it would land on either Jeremiah or me.Suddenly I heard him stop running, but I didn't try to look around and see what happened, instead circle round the house and decided that I would jump over
YARA's povI quickly made my way to the closet where Jeremiah was, with as much stealth as I could possibly manage.Every step I took felt deafening in the darkness and I kept expecting Daniel to turn suddenly in my direction. All the while, Daniel kept swiping his axe, hitting the wall several times because he clearly couldn't see what he was doing as he vowed to wipe me off the face of the earth."Damn you, Yara! I'm going to kill you! And once I'm done, I'm going to feed your body parts to the ravens! You foolish b*tch!"My heart was racing, but I couldn't keep my focus on what Daniel wished and dreamed he could do to me. Instead, I quietly opened the closet door, slapped my mouth over Jeremiah's mouth to keep him from speaking out, while I spoke to Daniel to mask the sound of the closet door opening and closing."Threats and more threats, that's all you're good at, Daniel. But it seems it's escaped your notice that right now, we are both like blind men, and I'm the one who is mos
Yara’s PovI turned toward her voice, my expression innocent. “I’m sorry, I didn't see you, you’re okay, right?”“What do you think?” she snapped. “It was boiling hot!”I frowned slightly. “Boiling hot? But I thought you said you put ice in it. The coffee wasn’t that hot.”Her eyes widened with fur
Yara‘s POVI lay still, counting my breaths, slowing them down until they felt shallow enough to pass as unconsciousness. My head throbbed. Warmth had already soaked into my hair and the pillow beneath me. I waited for panic. For shouting. For him to grab his keys and rush me to the hospital.None
Yara’s PovI never expected to see Daniel in the study. The live surveillance feed had been clear. It showed him walking into Judy’s room. The door closed behind him. He never came out. So when I turned and saw him standing in front of me, I honestly believed I was hallucinating. We stared at each
Yara’s PovJudy rushed downstairs the moment Ryker started crying. That was my opening. The medicine cup sat in my hand, warm against my palm. I stared at it, my stomach tightening. The liquid inside looked the same as always, cloudy and faintly yellow, with a smell that made my throat itch.I coul
