I did not have to chase them out of my house cause they left after two hours. After they left, I stood in a silent house full of memories. I met my mate Alice at the last Mate meeting, gathering my pack held.FLASHBACK… I stood at the entrance of the pack, welcoming people from other packs, when my nose picked up a very sweet cinnamon mixed with a strawberry smell. My wolf was jumping inside of me and howling happily, and I just knew that my mate was around, but I could not see her. I was not worried because I knew we would still meet inside during the gathering. After I was done welcoming people into the pack, the gathering began, and all without mates lined up, male on one side, female on the side. Instantly, people started finding their mate. I picked up that same sweet smell towards my right and walked towards the right trying to pinpoint where that smell was coming from, and I laid my eyes on her. It felt like I was in heaven. She ran into my arms, and it felt electrifying. I held her tightly in my arms like someone was going to steal her from me. With a shy smile, she looked at me and said, “My name is Alice from the fiery pack. What’s yours, and which pack are you from?” “My name is Maverick, and I’m the Alpha of this pack,” I responded with a smile. “A a a Alpha?” She stuttered and stumbled back in fear. “Yes, I’m the Alpha, and you don’t need to be scared of me. I’m your mate, and I’ll never harm you,” I reassured her. I looked around and noticed that everyone's eyes were on us, everyone cheered and my mum walked over to us and pulled Alice into her arms for a hug. Some people who found their mate within my pack decided to stay, while some decided to leave for their mate's pack. Alice stayed with me cause, as the Alpha, I can’t leave another pack. We held the mating ceremony days later and marked each other the same day. FLASHBACK ENDS. I got pulled out of my thoughts by a howl that I know is coming from my wolf, Jax. “You are awake,” I say as I walk up to my bedroom, and I get no response. “Jax, are you fine?” My wolf has weakened since we lost our mates and has been quite weak. Normally, Jax was always chattering in my head, but now he rarely talks and is always asleep. After waiting for some time and still receiving no response, I went to sleep. JASMINE I’m awakened by voices from the living room downstairs, and I know it was either Daisy or the Alpha’s family. I get out of bed, and I feel so much better than the day before. I walk to my bathroom to freshen up, and I get dressed in a two-piece lounge set. Before I was I walk out of my bedroom, I look at myself in the mirror. I still look pale, but I look better. I walk down the stairs to the living room, where everyone is seated huddled together. “Good morning, everyone,” I greeted, and everyone turned around and rushed to hug me, and by everyone, I mean Daisy, my best friend, Eva, the Alpha daughter, and my other best friend, Jacob, the Alpha to be. Our parents stood side by side, looking at us. “ I missed you so much,” Daisy says with tears in her eyes. “I missed you too,” Eva added, trying not to shed tears. “Finally, you decided to come out of that God-forsaken bedroom,” Jacod says, joking, trying not to cry while rubbing his sister and mate back as they cry. Daisy and Jacob ate mate, and after they hold the mating ceremony, Jacob will become the Alpha. I'm envious of their bond, but I push the feelings aside. “ I missed you guys, too,” I say, and I look over to where our parents stood. “Good morning, Mum, Dad, Uncle Allen, and Aunt Teresa,” I greeted. After sharing greetings and hugs with everyone, we sit at the dining table to have breakfast. Daisy and Eva filled me in on pack matters as we ate our breakfast. “It is our pack's turn to host the Nate meeting gathering, and preparations have already begun as the gathering is in two days,” says Daisy as she bounces in her seat. You would think she had not met her mate, but I know she's just excited for the event. “Yes, yes, and we need to buy dresses, get our nails done, get our hair done too,” Eva says in excitement. “Let's go after breakfast!” After breakfast, they dragged me out of the house, and immediately, I noticed people looking at me and whispering to each other. I know they are talking about me. “Walk faster, we have a lot of things to do!” Eva says as she and Daisy both took one hand each and dragged me to walk faster. We went to the mall to buy dresses and shoes, then they took me to the spa to get a massage. After we went to the salon, I had long curly full hair, so they defined my curls and cut my dead ends. I looked at myself in the mirror, and I looked beautiful and cute. I missed my former self, and I'm grateful my mum forced me to become myself once again. I looked at Daisy and Eva with tears in my eyes.” Thank you guys,” I say, and they pull me into a hug and whisper sweet and encouraging words in my ears.JASMINE“The cursed Luna belongs to the Shadow Wolves.”The words hit me like ice crawling down my spine.I stand frozen near the top of the staircase while silence crashes through the entire pack house below.Cursed Luna. The title alone makes my stomach twist painfully. My wolf whimpers softly inside me.Danger.Every warrior downstairs immediately becomes tense while growls echo throughout the hall. But Maverick…Maverick looks absolutely terrifying. His silver eyes glow dangerously bright while his Alpha aura suffocates the entire room. Even from upstairs, I can feel the pressure of his anger pressing against my skin.Jax is furious.“Kill him.”The rogue laughs weakly despite the warriors forcing him onto his knees. Blood stains his mouth, but somehow he still looks proud of himself.“You should hand her over willingly,” he spits. “Before worse things happen.”Maverick moves so fast I barely see it.One second he’s standing several feet away. The next second his hand is wrapped t
MAVERICKI’m just as broken as she is.The realization settles heavily between us after my confession.Jasmine stares at me silently, her beautiful blue eyes filled with emotions I can’t fully read. Sadness. Confusion. Understanding. And maybe… comfort. The hallway suddenly feels too small.Too quiet.Too intimate.Jax is unusually calm inside me now.“She understands us.”Maybe she does. For the first time since the bond formed, I don’t feel like I’m speaking to someone who only sees me as a burden forced into her life by fate. She sees my grief too.And somehow that makes this strange connection between us even more dangerous.Because emotional bonds become real long before romantic ones do.Jasmine lowers her eyes first.“I should rest,” she whispers softly.I nod immediately despite the strange disappointment curling inside my chest.“Yes. You’ve had a long day.”I open the door to her room for her, but before she enters, she suddenly pauses. Then quietly asks:“What was her name?
JASMINEThe moment my fingers tighten around Maverick’s hands, realization crashes into me instantly.I let myself reach for him.Willingly.Heat rushes to my face immediately, and I quickly try to pull my hands away in embarrassment. But Maverick doesn’t let go immediately. His silver eyes remain locked on mine, calm yet intense enough to make my heartbeat stumble strangely.Jax purrs softly inside him.“Mate chose us.”The strange warmth spreading through my chest terrifies me.Because for the first time since Alex died…I don’t feel completely broken. And that thought alone makes guilt slam into me immediately afterward.I finally pull my hands back gently and lower my gaze. The room suddenly feels too quiet.Too aware.Selene notices everything.I can feel her eyes on us.Sharp.Unhappy.Then she suddenly laughs softly, breaking the tension.“Well,” she says lightly, “looks like the bond is progressing quickly.”The comment makes me uncomfortable instantly.Maverick’s expression h
MAVERICKThe second the royal messenger bows to Jasmine, every instinct inside me explodes violently.Jax snarls aggressively.“Why is he bowing to our mate?”I don’t know. But I already hate it.The messenger slowly straightens, his golden eyes remaining fixed on Jasmine with an intensity I deeply dislike.Jasmine herself looks completely confused beside me. Her body stiffens slightly under my hand while unease rolls off her scent.Good.At least I’m not the only one suspicious.“The Alpha King has been searching for you,” the messenger repeats calmly. My aura immediately darkens.“For what reason?” I ask coldly. The messenger finally shifts his attention toward me.“To deliver a royal summons.”Absolutely not.The answer rises instantly inside my head before he even finishes speaking.Jax growls dangerously.“No one takes mate.”The messenger reaches into his coat before pulling out a scroll sealed with black wax and the royal crest of the werewolf kingdom.“The Alpha King requests
JASMINEMy heart drops painfully into my stomach.“The Alpha King has heard rumors of the impossible bond.”The words echo endlessly inside my head while fear creeps slowly through my body.Impossible bond. That’s what they’re calling us now.Not mates. Not people.A phenomenon.A problem.I instinctively take a small step backward, but Maverick immediately notices. His body shifts slightly in front of mine protectively, almost like a shield separating me from the rest of the world.Jax growls softly inside him.“Protect mate.”The warrior standing at the door lowers his head nervously.“The messenger is waiting downstairs, Alpha.”Maverick’s jaw tightens dangerously.“How much does he know?”“I’m not sure, Alpha,” the warrior admits quickly. “But he specifically asked to see the female.”A cold chill runs down my spine instantly. The female. Not even my name.Elder Miriam suddenly grips her cane tightly.“That’s bad,” she whispers.Selene folds her arms again, though this time she lo
MAVERICK Silence suffocates the room after Jasmine speaks.“The bond has awakened.”The words settle heavily in the air like a death sentence.Jax is pacing wildly inside my head now.“She saw something.”I know. And judging from the fear in Elder Miriam’s eyes, whatever Jasmine experienced is far worse than any of us realize.Jasmine looks shaken to her core. Her breathing is uneven, and she keeps staring at the shattered glass on the floor like she’s terrified another vision might appear.Instinctively, I move closer to her.Immediately, her scent shifts slightly.Safer.Calmer.Jax notices too.“She trusts us.”The realization hits me strangely hard.Despite everything happening, despite how confused and afraid she is… some part of her already feels safe around me.And that dangerous possessiveness inside me deepens further.Selene suddenly breaks the silence with an irritated scoff.“This is ridiculous,” she says while crossing her arms tightly. “A few visions and an old prophecy
MAVERICK POVI stand outside Jasmine’s bedroom door long after leaving her alone inside.Jax is restless.“Nervous,” he mutters.“I noticed.”The entire journey here, Jasmine barely spoke. And honestly? I don’t blame her.She left behind everything familiar to enter a pack full of strangers because
