I’m sitting in my study, looking through the pack documents and the issues that need my attention. Sheets of paper are scattered across my desk; they contain complaints from pack members, things they want changed, and new things they want included in the pack. Yes, I seek out pack members for their opinion as they are the ones that benefit from it the most, so they must be included in decision-making, and that can only be possible if I seek out their opinion. Boxes are placed around the pack grounds so that people who have opinions or complaints can write them down and put them in the boxes, and at the end of every day, I will go through them. As I was deeply into reading them, I heard a knock. “Come in,” I say, and from the smell my nose picks up, I know who's at the door. “Yo, how are you doing?” my beta Jaden says as he walks into my study, taking a seat in one of the chairs across me. “I heard you beat up another council head. How many more people are you going to beat up when they don't listen to you?” “As much as I can, and I know I can handle a lot of people,” I replied with a smirk, “and why are you here and not tending to your pregnant mate?” “My pregnant mate is your sister, and you know how she is when she wants to be alone.” he leans forward. “ I actually came to discuss a very important issue.” “What’s so important that you can't wait until dinner time?” I ask, sitting up at the word important. “As you know, it’s mating season, and it is time for unmatched pack members to leave the pack to another pack in search of their mate,” he says wearily cause he knows the word ‘mate’ is a sour subject for me, but I can't be selfish towards my pack members just because I no longer have a mate. “Yes, I'm aware, which pack is hosting the Mate meeting gathering this season?” I ask seriously “The Ivory pack is hosting the gathering, and they sent a letter this morning while you were in a meeting,” he says, holding the letter out for me to read. I tore open the seal and read through the letter.I hope this letter finds you well, Alpha Maverick,It is with great pleasure that I have the honour of hosting the Mate meeting gathering this season. I am writing this letter to inform you that the preparation of the gathering has begun over here, and the gathering will be held in 4 days. Sincerely,Alpha Allen. “The gathering is in 4 days, inform everyone so those eligible can get ready, and you will go with them,” I say, dropping the letter and focusing on my previous task. “Okay, adios,” he says with a playful tone and leaves my study. Jaden is my childhood friend, we are gummed at the hip, and when we were younger, people used to think we were siblings, especially in uni. He is also my sister's mate, which is surprising because they never got along until they found out they were mates. They would always bicker over unnecessary things and could not be together in a space without arguing. My sister is currently 4 months pregnant, but you would think she is 6 months pregnant with how big her belly is getting, and she is very clingy to Jaden, but I understand it’s not easy to be pregnant, and pregnant women need more attention and care. I try to wipe away all other thoughts and get back to the tasks that need my attention.LATER IN THE EVENING… I walk into the dining room, and everyone is already seated. By everyone, I mean my mum, my sister Talia, and Aiden; we lost my father 5 years ago. “Good, everyone is seated, let’s all have our dinner and go to our various houses,” I say as I pull out the chair at the head of the table, “and please no staying 30 minutes after dinner, I need my alone time,” I add. “Well, good evening to you too, what a way to tell us you don’t want to see us,” my sister Talia said as she dished out my dinner. “ sis, I don’t mean that, I’m just telling you all I want some alone time,” I say, but I know no one will listen to me. It’s not my first time having to chase them out of my house, and I know I will still have to chase them out tonight. Ever since I lost my mate, even though I’m better and doing well, my mum and my sister still feel like they need to be with me at all times, which can sometimes be suffocating. “I don’t really have a lot to say, just that today will be the last time you will beat anyone up in this pack,” my mum said “It’s a threat, not a warning understand? You might be the alpha but I am your mother and before I was your mother I was the Luna of this pack” she added. I knew she was not going to let it go ever. “Okay, Mama,” I replied without looking up from my dinner. The atmosphere is tense cause my mother is in a dangerous mood. “ Alpha Maverick, I would like to submit a complaint against Beta Jaden.” My sister suddenly speaks up, and I’m wondering what complaint she wants to submit. “Go on,” I ask her. “Beta Jaden promised to take me out on a date in 4 days, and now he is going back on his word,” I say, giving me me looks that can kill, “and it came to my attention that you have a role to play in it.” I looked up at Jaden and demanded an explanation cause I don’t want to be on the receiving end of my sister’s wrath. “Alpha” Jaden indeed said, playing along, “ you asked me to go for the mate meeting gathering in ivory pack, and I can’t refuse your order.” “Jaden, it was not an order you could have told me you have plans,” I say, giving him a deathly look. “You know I will never be insensitive towards your plan, especially with my sister. You don’t need to go anymore, I will go, and it’s final.JASMINE“The cursed Luna belongs to the Shadow Wolves.”The words hit me like ice crawling down my spine.I stand frozen near the top of the staircase while silence crashes through the entire pack house below.Cursed Luna. The title alone makes my stomach twist painfully. My wolf whimpers softly inside me.Danger.Every warrior downstairs immediately becomes tense while growls echo throughout the hall. But Maverick…Maverick looks absolutely terrifying. His silver eyes glow dangerously bright while his Alpha aura suffocates the entire room. Even from upstairs, I can feel the pressure of his anger pressing against my skin.Jax is furious.“Kill him.”The rogue laughs weakly despite the warriors forcing him onto his knees. Blood stains his mouth, but somehow he still looks proud of himself.“You should hand her over willingly,” he spits. “Before worse things happen.”Maverick moves so fast I barely see it.One second he’s standing several feet away. The next second his hand is wrapped t
MAVERICKI’m just as broken as she is.The realization settles heavily between us after my confession.Jasmine stares at me silently, her beautiful blue eyes filled with emotions I can’t fully read. Sadness. Confusion. Understanding. And maybe… comfort. The hallway suddenly feels too small.Too quiet.Too intimate.Jax is unusually calm inside me now.“She understands us.”Maybe she does. For the first time since the bond formed, I don’t feel like I’m speaking to someone who only sees me as a burden forced into her life by fate. She sees my grief too.And somehow that makes this strange connection between us even more dangerous.Because emotional bonds become real long before romantic ones do.Jasmine lowers her eyes first.“I should rest,” she whispers softly.I nod immediately despite the strange disappointment curling inside my chest.“Yes. You’ve had a long day.”I open the door to her room for her, but before she enters, she suddenly pauses. Then quietly asks:“What was her name?
JASMINEThe moment my fingers tighten around Maverick’s hands, realization crashes into me instantly.I let myself reach for him.Willingly.Heat rushes to my face immediately, and I quickly try to pull my hands away in embarrassment. But Maverick doesn’t let go immediately. His silver eyes remain locked on mine, calm yet intense enough to make my heartbeat stumble strangely.Jax purrs softly inside him.“Mate chose us.”The strange warmth spreading through my chest terrifies me.Because for the first time since Alex died…I don’t feel completely broken. And that thought alone makes guilt slam into me immediately afterward.I finally pull my hands back gently and lower my gaze. The room suddenly feels too quiet.Too aware.Selene notices everything.I can feel her eyes on us.Sharp.Unhappy.Then she suddenly laughs softly, breaking the tension.“Well,” she says lightly, “looks like the bond is progressing quickly.”The comment makes me uncomfortable instantly.Maverick’s expression h
MAVERICKThe second the royal messenger bows to Jasmine, every instinct inside me explodes violently.Jax snarls aggressively.“Why is he bowing to our mate?”I don’t know. But I already hate it.The messenger slowly straightens, his golden eyes remaining fixed on Jasmine with an intensity I deeply dislike.Jasmine herself looks completely confused beside me. Her body stiffens slightly under my hand while unease rolls off her scent.Good.At least I’m not the only one suspicious.“The Alpha King has been searching for you,” the messenger repeats calmly. My aura immediately darkens.“For what reason?” I ask coldly. The messenger finally shifts his attention toward me.“To deliver a royal summons.”Absolutely not.The answer rises instantly inside my head before he even finishes speaking.Jax growls dangerously.“No one takes mate.”The messenger reaches into his coat before pulling out a scroll sealed with black wax and the royal crest of the werewolf kingdom.“The Alpha King requests
JASMINEMy heart drops painfully into my stomach.“The Alpha King has heard rumors of the impossible bond.”The words echo endlessly inside my head while fear creeps slowly through my body.Impossible bond. That’s what they’re calling us now.Not mates. Not people.A phenomenon.A problem.I instinctively take a small step backward, but Maverick immediately notices. His body shifts slightly in front of mine protectively, almost like a shield separating me from the rest of the world.Jax growls softly inside him.“Protect mate.”The warrior standing at the door lowers his head nervously.“The messenger is waiting downstairs, Alpha.”Maverick’s jaw tightens dangerously.“How much does he know?”“I’m not sure, Alpha,” the warrior admits quickly. “But he specifically asked to see the female.”A cold chill runs down my spine instantly. The female. Not even my name.Elder Miriam suddenly grips her cane tightly.“That’s bad,” she whispers.Selene folds her arms again, though this time she lo
MAVERICK Silence suffocates the room after Jasmine speaks.“The bond has awakened.”The words settle heavily in the air like a death sentence.Jax is pacing wildly inside my head now.“She saw something.”I know. And judging from the fear in Elder Miriam’s eyes, whatever Jasmine experienced is far worse than any of us realize.Jasmine looks shaken to her core. Her breathing is uneven, and she keeps staring at the shattered glass on the floor like she’s terrified another vision might appear.Instinctively, I move closer to her.Immediately, her scent shifts slightly.Safer.Calmer.Jax notices too.“She trusts us.”The realization hits me strangely hard.Despite everything happening, despite how confused and afraid she is… some part of her already feels safe around me.And that dangerous possessiveness inside me deepens further.Selene suddenly breaks the silence with an irritated scoff.“This is ridiculous,” she says while crossing her arms tightly. “A few visions and an old prophecy
JASMINEI stand there completely frozen, my body trembling violently from everything that just happened.Mrs. Carter’s words keep echoing endlessly inside my head.If you leave this pack with him… then you never loved my son.The words cut so deeply that it physically hurts to breathe.Guilt coils
JASMINEIt's Mate meeting day, and Daisy, Eva, and I are in my room getting dressed. Daisy bought a maroon-colored Mermaid dress, Eva bought a blue-colored dress, and I bought a short purple halter-neck bodycon dress with a slit at the front. I look at myself in the mirror; my complexion looks bet
MAVERICKI did not have to chase them out of my house cause they left after two hours. After they left, I stood in a silent house full of memories. I met my mate Alice at the last Mate meeting, gathering my pack held. FLASHBACK…I stood at the entrance of the pack, welcoming people from other pac
JASMINE I lay awake in my bed feeling restless and waiting for death. With my wolf not responding to me and my mate gone, I know in just a little while I will give up the ghost, cause as a werewolf, connecting with your wolf is important, and after finding your mate and you lose him, you can never
