LOGINKaida’s Pov
“What?!” Ken exclaimed in confusion. My heart skipped. I raised my head, forcing the tears back. “You heard me. Leo…” My lips trembled. “He—he is dying.” The words scraped painfully out of my throat. Silence filled the line. I could hear my uneven breathing and the faint sound of his. My fingers tightened around the phone as I waited. “Kaida, are you that desperate?” I froze. “Just to force me home, you would even use our son’s health as a joke?” My eyes widened. “W-what? What are you saying?” “I don’t have time for your tricks,” he said coldly. “Samantha has a cold. I need to take her home. Don’t call me unnecessarily.” Samantha. The name hit me like a slap. Always her. Always Audrey’s daughter. “So what about Leo?” I thought bitterly. “Isn’t he your son too?” I closed my eyes, and Leo’s disappointed face flashed in my mind — the way he had waited by the window, holding the toy his father once gave him, as if it could replace his warmth, the disappointment and the everyday longing for his father. Something inside me hardened. “Ken,” I said, forcing my voice steady, “Leo has Wolf Heart Disease. If you don’t believe me, come home. I have the healer’s report. If I’m lying… You can punish me however you want.” The line went quiet again. For a second, I allowed myself to hope. Then a soft female voice broke through. “Ken~ Can you help carry Samantha? She wants you.” I didn’t need to guess who it was. “Okay,” he replied gently, a tone he rarely used even when talking to Leo. Then his tone turned cold again. “I’ll come home later. After I take Samantha home.” The call ended. I stood there just staring at the wall. The phone felt heavy in my hand. Even when I said his son was dying, he chose another child first. But at least… I tried. *** Hours later… I stood by the window when a familiar car drove in. Ken stepped out. Alpha Ken of the Moonhack Pack. My husband. The man who hated me. He looked as composed and handsome as ever, his grey shirt fitting perfectly against his broad chest. For a second, I found myself staring. How long have I seen him? Weeks? Months? I can't recall because he has always been with his first love and her daughter. “He must be happy,” I murmured. “Staying with the woman he loves.” My chest tightened. Leo was the result of one night — a night that changed everything. Six years ago, I was just a teacher in the pack. I trained the children. I was respected and even the old Alpha treated me kindly. Then came the Moon Night party, a night that was arranged to welcome Ken back to the pack. That night, I felt the mate pull for the first time. It was strong and warm and just like everyone would do, I followed it without hesitation. I was happy. I knew I had found my mate. But the next morning, I woke up beside Ken. Naked. The joy I felt disappeared when he looked at me with anger instead of recognition. He said he felt nothing. No mate bond. No pull. He accused me of planning everything. He accused me of drugging him and even when I tried to explain, he never believed me. His words hurt more than anything. When I found out I was pregnant, I thought things would change. But…They didn’t. He denied the child. He said he only loved Audrey and said I ruined his life. But the old Alpha, his father, forced him to marry me. From that day, I lived as his Luna in name only. He was cold during my pregnancy. Colder after Leo was born. And now… “Now our son is dying.” I choked. The sound of the door opening pulled me back. He walked in with sharp steps. “I’m here,” he said flatly. “Are you satisfied? What do you want?” For a moment, I couldn’t speak. Then I handed him the report. The room grew quiet. He read it without expression. Then he chuckled, a sound so cold that it sent chills running down my spine. “Are you so desperate that you teamed up with the healer to create some fake illness?” My head snapped up. “What?” His aura grew heavy as he stepped closer. “Wolf Heart Disease? A month to live?” He scoffed. “Leo has always been healthy. Kids get shortness of breath all the time. The doctors already said nothing serious was wrong. And suddenly he’s dying?” Each word struck me harder than the last. How I wished what he said was true. That nothing is wrong with Leo. “You don’t believe me?” My voice shook despite myself. “Check the report again. Why would I joke about this? He’s your son. He needs you.” Ken laughed again. “Trust you?” he asked mockingly. “Why should I? You drugged me, got pregnant on purpose, separated me from the woman I love and made her hate me to the extent of hiding her pregnancy from me and made her wallow in pain alone. Now you expect me to believe this?” I staggered back. “I never drugged you,” I said firmly, even though my hands were trembling. “I never tried to separate you from Audrey. All I’m asking is for you to spend time with your son. Is that too much?” Silence fell between us. For the first time, I didn’t lower my gaze. Leo didn’t have time for pride. After a moment, Ken sneered. “So this is what you want? Me at home? Playing family?” “Please,” I said quietly. “Spend time with Leo. Just one month. Do your duty as his father. Fulfil his wishes. After that… I swear, I’ll do anything you want.” He paused. “Anything?” His eyes narrowed. “Including divorce?” The word hung in the air. Divorce. Wasn’t that what he always wanted? The only reason I held onto this marriage was Leo. He was the Alpha’s son. I didn’t want him to lose that position. But what was the position… if he didn’t even have time to live? My fingers clenched. “Okay,” I said. He blinked. “I’ll sign the divorce papers. I’ll leave this pack and never appear before you again.” My voice is steady now. “But for one month, you will stay with Leo. You will act as his father. You will fulfil his wishes and take him to the Snow Festival, and spend every day with him.” I met his eyes. “For one month… be his father.”Kabir Pov The faint cracking sound echoed through the silent meeting room. No one moved. Every pair of eyes landed on the guard’s neck and even breathing became careful, as if the next sound would be his neck snapping. My eyes remained on Old Man Alaska. I watched his face turn darker and paler. His eyes remained on my fist, and his body trembled. My lips curled slightly like a devil about to steal a soul. Well, I wasn’t far from that because with one move, the one in my hand could die. The guard I was holding struggled. His breathing became thin, and his eyes turned white. I didn’t even look at him. Instead, I watched the way Old Man Alaska slowly lost his mind. His face twisted, and he gritted his teeth. Seconds passed. Then another… Impatience flashed in my eyes, and without even looking at him, I turned to the face of the man I had captured. My eyes turned cold as my fingers tightened, but just as I prepared to snap his neck, I heard a loud yell— “Stop! Okay, okay, I’ll pay
Kabir Pov The next day, I quietly left the bed without waking Kaida up. I knew how tired she was, especially after going through a scare yesterday and even shifting to her wolf form, which wasn’t really advisable for a pregnant mother until she was stable.Yesterday, Mother had scolded Kaida for shifting. Though I didn’t have the heart to say anything harsh to her, I had seriously warned her. Besides, this was also my fault. For her not to trust and rely on me, then I hadn’t gained all of her trust. I still had work to do on our relationship. After dressing up, I looked at Kaida, who was still in a deep sleep. She hugged a pillow, which I had sneaked into her arms so she wouldn’t wake up after I left.I stood there for another second, wondering if I should stay beside her a little longer. In the end, I let out a quiet sigh. Work couldn’t wait.Looking at her parted lips letting out cute little snores, my eyes softened. Though I could hear the sound of footsteps outside, I still leane
Kabir PovThe office fell into a tense silence. The temperature around me dropped as I stared straight at Jude, who still stood there stunned.Benson, on the other hand, looked so confused. His head shifted between Jude and me, his lips parted like he really wanted to ask questions, but he swallowed back his words.I had always trusted Jude, and never for once doubted him even after I knew about his feelings for Rana and that he was hiding his grievance for me. I knew he blamed me for the death of Rana even if it wasn’t all my fault.Rana had been the one who jumped behind me even when I could have easily avoided the arrow. But still, I hadn’t protected her, so I carried the guilt for years and even tolerated the Alaska family’s nonsense and turned them from poor to being one of the wealthiest families. For Jude, even after what happened weeks ago, which I punished him for, I still tried to retain my trust in him, even if I was disappointed. But… seeing Michelle today? How could I not
Kabir Pov I have always known the woman I chose was strong. Even after going through so much heartbreak, she still remained strong and was still able to smile. The first time I met Kaida, it had only been a coincidence. I had heard of the recent chaos caused by the leftover rogues, and I decided to trail their scent and clean them up, and that was when I saw her… lying in a pool of her blood and just waiting for death. My chest tightened as that memory flashed through my mind again. I never cared about people, especially strangers, but I didn’t know what pushed me to interfere that night. Not only did I kill off the rogues, I had even done the unexpected by bringing her back to my pack. Day after day, I watched her, even lied to her when I saw the will to leave in her eyes. I had forced her to stay with the threat that she had trespassed into my territory. I had seen how weak she was, and for the first time, a female’s tears didn’t irritate me. Instead, they caused panic in my he
Kaida Pov In the middle of the crowd lay a figure groaning in pain after being thrown hard onto the ground. Dressed in a black dress, her long hair, which had always been packed neatly, now lay scattered around her head. Though in pain, she still glared fiercely at the crowd, but what attracted attention was the scar that had destroyed her face—the scar stretched from her forehead to her lips, making her look terrifying. But even if her face was destroyed, I could still recognize her anywhere. My breath caught in my throat. I blinked once, then twice, unable to believe my eyes. Michelle Alaska! What is she doing here?! Besides, how could she be so bold as to cause trouble in the Northern Pack?! Just thinking of how much trouble she had caused, ruining what was supposed to be peaceful, made me feel fire burn inside me. I glared at her, my fists clenched tightly by my sides. The whole place was still quiet, and everyone stared at Michelle in shock. No one could have expecte
Kaida Pov My body trembled heavily, and for a moment, I couldn’t come back to my senses and could only stare blankly into the air. The whole place had long fallen into loud silence, and all eyes turned to me. Once in a while, some came back to their senses and exclaimed. I even saw the gazes around me change to ones of disgust, and it sent chills down my spine. My ears rang loudly, and for a second, I forgot how to breathe. It felt as if those words had turned into countless sharp needles piercing my heart. Just then, I felt the temperature around me drop. My heart began to thump heavily, and even my wolf felt the pressure that fell. I snapped back to my senses, then immediately turned to where the pressure was coming from—It was Kabir. The moment I set my eyes on him, my heart tightened. He stood still, his face dark with rage, his eyes bloodshot, and his breathing heavy as if he was about to spit fire. I could even see the veins that bulged from his forehead and neck as if he
Kaida Pov The remaining walk around the food stalls was done in silence, but I didn’t really notice. I ate the popcorn in my hand absentmindedly while following behind Benson, who led the way. Though my mind was elsewhere, I still noticed their sneaky glances, especially Benson who kept looking b
Kaida Pov“What— what did you say?!”I stared dumbfounded at Benson, my mouth slightly agape and my heart thundering loudly against my chest. For a moment, I thought I heard him wrong. No… I had to hear him wrong.Because if this was true, then… I’m finished.Benson didn’t say anything, but the loo
Ken Pov It felt like the whole world had collapsed on me. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t speak. Everything went blank. Bruce’s words kept echoing inside my head. I could understand the words separately, but when they came together, they made no sense. I swallowed hard. “W-what… What do yo
Kaida PovI gaped at Kabir blankly, his words echoing in my ears, circling inside me again and again. He was right. I was Nat’s master. I was supposed to lead her and not the other way around. If I kept giving in to her weakness, then nothing would ever change. I would remain like this… weak, helpl
