‎"I, Alpha Denparlio, accept you Eliana Niklaus, as my backup Luna."

‎The entire ceremonial room went quiet at once. It was total pin drop silence as the moon-walkers exchanged looks among themselves and the generals did the same. Regardless of how awkward it felt, Eliana had no choice but to accompany the Alpha out of the room because that was her primary responsibility as the Alpha's personal watcher.

‎  "That was scary what you did back there, dada".

‎Eliana finally mustered the courage to comment. Even a deaf werewolf could have heard the shakiness in her voice as she spoke but the Alpha couldn't care less.

‎   "Ana" he responded. "The generals and moon-walkers are sworn to secrecy, not even their mates would learn of what transpired here today.

‎Additionally, you seem to forget that I am the Alpha of this pack, the supreme authority. I run this pack and my decisions MUST NOT be questioned."

‎  "Forgive me. It is not my intention to question your decision, dada. I am terrified of what Luna Caroline might do to me upon her return. Don't you care that she might freak out or worse?"

‎His tone became firmer now.

‎  "Ana, that's my problem to deal with. You realize that not many people have the access you have to me, nor the courage to indulge me in a conversation like this, right?" Ana nodded in agreement, and handed him a glass of water as he would often need after a meeting.

‎"Why would you want to throw this all away then, Ana?" He gulped the water and set the glass down, still staring bewilderedly at her.

‎Eliana walked closer to him and knelt down beside him whispering: "Dada, I am genuinely honoured to be given the privilege of being esteemed this highly especially by you, but I cannot help but fear for how Luna Caroline would handle this. The girls say she's warm but I've never even met her yet and I'm already a member of the moon-walkers, claimed by her Alpha? How worse can it get?" She began to sob.

‎  "Luna Caroline is MY Luna, Ana. She answers to me. You and I have discussed this already. Now enough with the chicken hearted tantrums, there are more pressing matters to attend to. Allow me to worry about Luna Caroline, okay?...

‎"Okay Dada."

‎ Luna Caroline is Alpha Denparlio's fated mate and esteemed Luna who works as a professor at the Diversity Academy. The academy that serves an all inclusive atmosphere for witches, werewolves, hybrids, vampires and special humans.

‎  Every werewolf within the pack and without, revered Luna Caroline and esteemed her very highly. Some genuinely, while others because they were committed to not losing their heads to Alpha Den who kept emphasizing it like a broken record that "If anyone dared! If anyone as much as looked at Luna Caroline the wrong way, they would have him to contend with and much sooner realize why he is feared across the seven regions and beyond."

‎  Everyone simply knew better than to oppose his Luna, let alone the Alpha. The moon-walkers just couldn't figure out why Alpha Denparlio would claim Eliana.

‎

‎"As members of the moon-walkers..." Gammer Ashdon broke the silence immediately after the last general exited the room. "It is our responsibility to seek clarity when it seems as though the Alpha is going astray." he cried.

‎  "And what would you suppose is the indication that the Alpha might be going astray? Otis interrupted.

‎  "Claiming Eliana publicly of course!" Ashton exclaimed, but Otis immediately became furious. "I will not be found plotting behind the Alpha's back. In my eyes he does no wrong and if you really think you have a bone to pick with him based on his decision, I suggest you take it up with him personally."

‎  "Otis, nobody is plotting anything! That's an exaggeration and you know it."

‎"Nova to the rescue" he interruptedly mimicked her tone. "When has it ever been in our place to right the Alpha's wrong or determine that he is infact wrong? When? tell me."

‎"Nova took a deep breath and proceeded... " Ashton is right, Otis. We all know what happened to the pack the last time Luna Caroline was distressed, she holds this pack together remember? It would be a disaster."

‎"Like I said to your beloved Ashton, Nova take it up with him. Enough of this, is what I said, don't forget I'm the Beta of this pack!".

‎In Otis's heart he believed the moon-walkers deserved some form of closure but his allegiance was to one and one alone. As the Beta of the pack nothing is more important than protecting the interest of the Alpha, and Otis would rather be dead than do otherwise.

‎"We apologize, Otis. Please calm down Back off Ashdon, we will speak to the Alpha directly."

‎Everyone quietly returned to their quarters.

‎The Alpha could not be summoned according to the Fortress Cave's rules. But the moon-walkers had the limited privilege to request to be summoned in cases of emergencies or very pressing matters, so they did the next day.

‎"It doesn't have to be next week, send them in" Alpha Denparlio demanded.

‎  "What is this I hear is the reason for this unsolicited request?" He barked.

‎"This is a dictatorship. I, appointed you moon-walkers, please remind me of when I explicitly stated that Fortress Cave had suddenly become a democracy"

‎They all fell quiet.

‎  "You expect to be consulted before my personal decisions are made? I, put you in charge so you must either submit to my government or show your depraved self out of this pack. Do not mess with me and do not test me again!". Now leave my presence!"

‎They all exited the great hall in a file.

‎"Forgive us Alpha" they each whispered as they made their was. Nobody brought it up again.

‎  "Otis, I am counting on you to ensure that this doesn't happen again!"

‎  "It won't, Alpha. I promise."

‎   "The moon-walkers serve as a tribunal for the pack. It was I who passed the law that anyone who would enjoy this bond and family I have built must first submit to their authority but even they must know where to draw the line between providing wise counsel, and trying to make look like an idiot. I will NOT be schooled by you all, either!"

‎  "That's right, Alpha" Otis affirmed, bowing lower.

‎"On behalf of us all, I sincerely apologize, sir".

‎  "That's fine, Otis. I know I can always count on you." He heaved a sigh of relief and then he added.

‎"Inform the house that Luna Caroline sent word, and will be joining us in a few days in preparation for the pack house's anniversary, will you?"

‎Eli you need to see the werewitch already! Azra frantically suggested. ‎ ‎Eliana still had her face turned to the laundry she was folding. ‎"Who are you suggesting, Margaret? ‎ Azra you know she is literally blood bound to the Luna and if I'm indeed pregnant then Luna Caroline will sure be the first to know!" ‎ ‎So, what are you gonna do now, Eli? ‎ ‎"I have no clue, but I know I will figure it out." Eliana assured. Then suddenly a loud sound blared. ‎ ‎That must be the horn. I hope the Omegas have put everything in place. Doris mumbled just before Brielle inquired. ‎ ‎"Doris do you hear the horn?" ‎ ‎"I sure do, Brielle." ‎ ‎"The horns only sounds when an important guest arrives at our packhouse! Who could it be?" ‎ ‎"Brielle did you forget? Alpha Denparlio had informed us that Alpha Emerson would be stopping by for two moons..." ‎ ‎Alpha Denparlio had recently sent word to Alpha Emerson seeking counsel especially because as much as he didn't think Luna Caro

‎"I will burn my essence and permanently flip open the door to our bond. What is good for the goose should equally be good for his Luna, I'll let the moon goddess decide." These thoughts solidified her decision as she approached her wagon and mounted it. Off she went back to the Academy. ‎ Over two decades ago, Luna Caroline accompanied Alpha Denparlio on a journey of seemingly no return because even though he had built almost his entire life at the Diversity Academy, he could no longer return there because he wasn't only laid off, but was completely banished from ever setting foot at the academy. ‎ ‎"The moon-goddess is strongly leading me to the acid rejoin in Europe, Care." ‎ ‎The then Professor Denparlio informed his then personal assistant Caroline whom he would fondly call Care, about his strong inclination to travel towards the east of London instead of towards the south, and the acid region which was popular for it's ability to sustain multiple life forms seemed like a

‎"Margaret, I will not be returning to Fortress Cave for a long while. My wagon is parked over there, I just wanted you to know." Caroline informed Margaret, pointing to the wagon facing the castle gates. ‎ ‎"Please come inside briefly... ‎I will miss you very much Caroline, and I will not relent in sending you word. Please don't shut me out, because I know how you can get whenever you feel stressed. If I don't hear from you Caroline, I will be showing up at the academy." ‎ ‎Caroline squinted a little bit when she heard this, but Margaret didn't budge. She stared even more convincingly into Caroline's eyes and reaffirmed: "I mean it. Every word of it. I will show up at the academy if you ignore me." ‎ ‎"That will not be necessary, Margaret. I will keep in touch." ‎ ‎"Better." ‎Margaret responded hugging her tightly. "I can't breath Margaret, your hugs are always suffocating" They both laughed it off as Margaret responded " I have something for you" ‎ ‎She went into her

‎"I don't feel well, Lucy. ‎My energy levels are persistently draining and my breaths feel heavier, sharper, and much more strenuous to draw. It feels as if I'm breathing not only for myself but probably for five additional people as well, and no matter what I eat I don't just get satisfied anymore. ‎Last night was tumultuous because I couldn't find any comfortable position to lie in and this morning it feels even more frustrating and conflicted. I don't even want to get out of bed today, Lucy." Eliana sulked. ‎ ‎Two days ago was the important event of the full moon and that was when Eliana met her wolf Lucy, for the very first time. The first thought that clouded her mind the moment she beheld her wolf was: ‎"It feels like I've known you all my life, you smell familiar and also feel overwhelmingly familiar" Clearly, Lucy could hear her thoughts and feel her every emotion instantly. So she smiled warmly, hugging Eliana by putting her head against hers, then she kissed Eliana fai

‎"But I choose you, I always have and always will, Honey." Alpha Denparlio attempted to convince Luna Caroline. ‎ ‎"So have I chosen you over and over again Bubba!" She snapped. ‎"Even when my parents threatened to disown and disavow me if went ahead with our marriage plans, I still chose you. ‎Even when YOUR mother, threatened to cast a hex of barrenness over me if I went ahead to marry you, even then I chose you just because the moon goddess had destined for us to end up together. ‎And when you brought the offer concerning the Alpha's Ritual I didn't refuse you, I supported you. ‎ ‎When Luna Brenda divorced and rejected you back at the academy before you decided to move here to begin the the foundations of this very castle in which I stand, I was there! ‎Every step of the way, brick by brick!" ‎ ‎Then Luna Caroline leaned against the wall, arms crossed and head tilted to one direction. ‎Luna Caroline rose up from the floor, and began to pace the royal chambers responding to Alpha Denparlio's question in a monologue. ‎ ‎"How would I feel about Eliana being your backup Luna? Shouldn't the real question be, how do I feel right now? ‎Bubba, ten moons ago the Alpha's Ritual was performed. Whether or not a similar ritual is performed in any other pack, Fortress Cave has no idea and may never find out. ‎Every werewolf in Fortress Cave who had spent at least twenty four moons in the pack qualified for the Alpha's Ritual but here's the twist, the he-wolves only had to make entries and receive tags to be registered on the Pack's ledger system, however, they were not welcome to outrightly participate in the said ritual, just as it has been over the years. ‎ ‎During the ceremony you made a declarative speech: ‎"This is the Fortress Cave pack and I Alpha Denparlio am the Alpha of this pack. In this pack, as much as there is absolute equality, there is also hierarchy and
