April's pov
"April," I almost jumped out of my seat startled when I heard my name being called out in the loudest voice. I looked up from my phone to look in the direction of the person who called me. I raised my brows at the person questioningly. "Why are you looking at me like that? You do realize that you are in a group discussion, right?"the guy who called me asked. His name was Marcus. "Of course, I do Marcus."I told him with a confused expression on my face. "Oh, now you do? Well, you might have forgotten that a group discussion means participation from every member." Marcus said mockingly and I was about to say something but he beat me to it. "This group project needs your smart little brain to come up with your genius ideas. Now chap chap, let us get done with this project quickly because I need to leave. I have a party I need to organize."he told me. I sighed closing my eyes annoyed. Of course they needed the nerdy stupid girl to come up with ideas. We were currently doing a group of four project that was due on Monday and today was Friday. I would have preferred that we did this another day other than today but since I was paired with a bunch of party people, they insisted on doing it today because they would not be available during the weekend. You guessed it right. They would be too wasted and hangover to even remember about a group project. I shook my head opening my eyes. I was not letting them have their way when I was at risk of sleeping outside. The reason why I was on the phone was because I was looking for a new roommate. You might be wondering why I need one or where I had been staying before but it was a long story. Trust me. "Marcus, I have an emergency that is more important than your stupid party okay. So let me deal with my emergency first and we can go back to the discussion. Plus, we are four heads, let others contribute too. Like you said, this is a group project the rest of you can contribute too."I told Marcus and went back to scrolling through my phone. I was currently scrolling through a few contact details that I got from the college announcement board. People in need of roommates had left their contact details there. So far, I had no luck because every contact I texted, they replied back saying that they already got the roommate. "What is your emergency?"Marcus asked me with a concerned tone. I looked up from my phone and faced him. I half bit my lower lip contemplating whether I should tell him the truth. I sighed finally deciding. "I am looking for a new roommate. I am in need of one like today before I sleep outside."I told him. Marcus frowned and so did the rest of the group members. Of course they frowned. They possibly were wondering why I need a new roommate or what happened to my other roommate. "Why do you need a new roommate?"another group member by the name Eric asked me this time. "Because I was kicked out of the dorm today."I said. Marcus smirked and I could see right through his smirk. I knew what he was thinking about. "I did not realize nerds could do anything bad to get themselves kicked out of the dorm."he said. I rolled my eyes then I gave him a fake slight laugh. "Ha ha ha! idiot. It was not my fault that I had nowhere else to sleep. My roommate let his boyfriend spend the night in the dorm and you know how strict rules about letting boys spend the night in the on-campus girls dorm are. So, unfortunately, in the morning, the college dorm administrator was going around checking the dorms and my roommate was busted and that is how I have nowhere to sleep tonight. We were both kicked out of the dorms. At least she has a boyfriend, she will be staying with him in an apartment that is off campus." I explained but I think I told them too much. "Oh wow, that is a tragic turn of events for you. Thought it was you who was at fault."Marcus laughed. "It would have been fun if it was you. But then it is not you. I do not think you can ever make a mistake." Marcus said and I scoffed. He was talking as if I was a Saint. Wait, I was a Saint. It was true, I never made mistakes. I had never attended a single college party. I was always on time to get to class and I did my homework perfectly and submitted it on time if not the first one. I never even had a boyfriend or friends. I guess that had to do with me being a nerd. I mean, it is college, where everyone wants to have fun and I am not....fun. I was quiet and as most people would describe me, naive and nerdy. People like me were termed as boring. A moment later, Marcus looked at me as if he just recalled something important. I hoped it would help me get a room even if it was for tonight before I figured things out on what to do tomorrow. "Ummm...I have this friend of mine. Alex, I think you know him, everybody does. He has a pretty big apartment that you can negotiate with him to let him share it with you."he said but that information just made me hate my life even more. "Alex? As in Alex Gray?"I asked for clarification. "Yeah?"Marcus said. "No, I better sleep outside than even share air with him. He is the playboy of the college who has likely slept with every girl in the whole campus. I do not like the likes of such people. I cannot even stand being in the same space as them. But, thank you for being slightly helpful."I told Marcus. "If you may excuse me, I need to get back to my search for a roommate who is not Alex Gray."I added. I looked away from Marcus who seemed like he had a lot to say. I knew he was about to convince me about thinking about it but as good as Marcus was at convincing people to get what he wants, this time it was not going to work on me because there was nothing to think about. Me sharing a room with Alex Gray was a big NO.APRIL'S POV I looked at Alex waiting for an explanation. What did he mean by what he said? "How do you know my family?"I asked when I got tired of waiting for Alex to take the hint and explain on his own accord.Alex stared at me. "Get your stuff June and leave. I don't even know why I am speaking to you in the first place."He told me coldly then the next moment he stood up straight and walked away. I jumped at the sound of the door banging. He went to his room.I sighed and I bent down near my suitcases. A few minutes later I was done packing and I was pushing my suitcases down the hall to the sitting room where I assumed Landon was. He was looking, no...surveying around the sitting room like a person who was hoping to find something he lost."What are you doing?"I cleared my throat before asking to gain his attention. He turned to look at me acting like he was not snooping a second ago."Are you done?" He asked looking at my suitcases."Do you know snooping is considered creepy?"I
April's POV "What are you doing here?"Alex coldly asked Landon. This was getting weird. I stepped away from where I was standing behind Landon and I stood next to him."What is going on?"I asked Landon out of curiosity."How rude was this asshole to you?"Landon asked getting so serious I was actually getting scared.I blinked confused then I glanced at Alex. I wanted to see his expression and he was as unreadable as always. "He was not rude at all."I told Landon shaking my head a little bit more vigorous than I intended."She is lying. I was the worst person she has probably met."Alex said and I narrowed my eyes at him. Why would he say that? It was true anyways but...why would he say that? Couldn't he read the air? My brother was not about to laugh with him. He made that clear with his dangerous tone.I looked at Landon shaking my head again but it was too late. He had already swung his fist and hit Alex's perfect jaw. I think I heard a crack sound as a result. I was not sure from
April's POV " Woah, who is that?" Maddy gasped grabbing attention of everyone in the group to look at who she was referring. My face instantly lit up. My brother stood against his car that was parked at the lone spot in the parking lot. He had sunglasses on. "And what car is that?"Maddy added as we walked further into the parking lot."That car is worth millions. As rich as my family is we cannot afford it as easily."Marcus commented and I looked at my brother's car. I had not noticed the type of car he came with. I instantly got annoyed that he chose to come with a flashy car. He knew I hated attention and he came with a car that screamed attention."P....why are you just standing there? Come here and give me a hug." Landon said and everyone looked at me with with questioning gazes. I forced a smile. "That is my brother Landon."I told them and I heard one or two gasps."Are you serious?" Maverick asked looking me up and down. That was weird right?Just when I was about to answer, I
April's POV The game continued for a while and more drinking games were introduced. People got so drunk except for Alex and I. I avoided anything that would make me drunk. When I had no choice but drink, Marcus would secretly drink for me. I guess he knew I did not drink. For some reason, Alex drunk as much as everyone but he did not get drunk. Now it was morning. I slowly opened my eyes letting my eyes adjust to the sudden light that welcomed my eyes. I had a foggy recollection of how and when I fell asleep but judging from the familiar decor of Marcus's sitting room, I was sure I was at Marcus's place. I sat up from my sleeping position apparently on the couch and I looked around hoping to see anyone. You know, Marcus's friends."Look who is up?"a cheerful familiar voice sounded in the room. It was Olivia. I turned to see her walking towards me. I was at the moment bothered that I was the only one on the couch. I cleared my voice to avoid it from coming hoarse because of my sleep.
April's POV Oh no!!I was not liking what was going on at the moment. I was not the person to be dramatic or start any drama but I could sense drama brewing. I was what? Two minutes around people and they were already causing drama."Why would you take the snack if it is not yours?" Marcus asked and I secretly pinched him to stop him from escalating the situation."You are right Maddy. It is just a snack. You can have it."I decided to speak hoping that was a good signal to show everyone that I was fine. But the truth was, I was not okay deep down. I wanted to be away from everyone there. There was an awkward silence around the room and I wondered what I was supposed to do. So I awkwardly sat down."Okay, can we get back to the game?" Leo cheerfully said saving the situation. I took a relieved breath when everyone agreed with him. I forced a small smile on my lips. Then I felt a stare boring through me. I looked at Alex who was the source of the stare. I stared back at him without sa
April's POV "I'm back."Marcus announced once we reached his apartment. Everyone turned their head excitedly to look at him until they spotted me next to him and their faces dropped and were suddenly filled with confusion. Everyone except Alex. He did not even look at Marcus when he told everyone he was back. His attention was deeply buried in his phone.Marcus noticed everyone's silence and smiled. He dropped the bags of snacks in his hands on the floor. Later, he grabbed the bag of snacks in my hand and dropped it to where he dropped the rest. Then he placed his hand on my shoulders and he pushed me forward gently. "Everyone, this is April. She's in my class."he told everyone who was just staring at me. I just smiled like a fool while they stared at me. I hated every single second they did. It was very embarrassing."So, April this is everyone." Marcus said then he pointed at a guy who was at the far end of the couch. He had a girl on his lap. The guy had a few strands of his hair d
