She gave him seven years of love, sacrifice, and a body broken by hope, yet never a child. Ava, Luna of the Nightfall Pack, spent her marriage desperately trying to conceive for Alpha Lucas Dan, enduring treatments, rituals, and silent humiliation as her body failed him over and over again. But what shattered her more than infertility was the truth she was never meant to hear, Lucas had never wanted a child with her at all. When a devastating fire takes everything, Ava dies… only to open her eyes back in the past. Seven years earlier. On the very night everything began to fall apart. This time, she watches Lucas choose another woman without hesitation, saving his long-lost love while leaving Ava behind in the flames. And in that moment, she understands that he has also been reborn, and this time he chose differently. So she lets go. But fate is not done with her yet. When a cold, mysterious firefighter pulls her from the fire, something inside her awakens, something stronger than heartbreak, stronger than betrayal. Because in this life, Ava will no longer be the woman who begs to be chosen. She will be the one who chooses herself. And maybe… the one who finally discovers what true fate feels like.

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

After being forced to go to rogue wolf territory to exchange my mate's kidnapped childhood sweetheart while three months pregnant, I was tortured to death.

I lay dying in the rogue territory, my body broken by silver torture while Willow's dog received protection back at the pack.

As the powerful warrior was stopped from leaving, my daughter still clutched the healing gemstone case, now empty.

She clenched her small fists, now turning purplish, and begged Willow again and again.

"Please, let the warrior come save my mom?" her small voice pleaded.

"Miss Willow, please, I'm begging you, let him go!"

My daughter's childish voice echoed throughout the entire pack house, but it couldn't move Willow who was busy fussing over her pet dog—the animal she claimed needed the pack's strongest warrior for protection.

The louder my daughter cried and shouted, the more Willow seemed determined to ignore her as she cooed and fawned over her dog.

"Good doggy, these big bad rogues aren't anywhere near us, but you still need protection," Willow's voice sang sweetly.

My daughter's voice gradually grew hoarse.

This child who used to cry for me to hold her whenever she got even the slightest scratch.

Now she just used the hem of her shirt to carelessly wipe away the tears streaming down her cheeks.

With anger in her eyes, she said bitterly:

"Selfish witch! I traded my healing gem for help. The warrior is supposed to save my mother!"

Then suddenly, my daughter's small body began to shake violently.

I felt through our fading bond as my eight-year-old daughter's body contorted, bones cracking as she transformed into a tiny silver wolf pup right there in the pack house.

With a desperate growl, she charged at Willow, who had turned her back slightly.

Willow stood there, holding her dog protectively, startled by the sight of the small wolf. My daughter tried to dart past her to the warrior, her tiny new wolf form lunging forward with determination.

Before she could reach him, Willow's foot shot out cruelly.

She pinned my little wolf to the ground with her heel, pressing down hard enough to make my daughter whimper in pain.

"What do we have here? Shifting so young?" Willow smirked, positioning herself between my daughter and the warrior. "Too bad it won't do you any good."

She made sure my daughter could see as she instructed the warrior to stand guard over her already safe pet.

"There you go, my precious. These pack warriors might seem scary, but they'll keep you safe."

My daughter struggled beneath Willow's foot, her small wolf body trembling with effort as she tried to break free.

I tried to howl through our bond, to reach out, to do anything to comfort her. But my strength was fading fast.

The silver burning through my veins grew more intense.

Through fading consciousness, I watched through our pack bond as my brave little wolf was cruelly restrained while trying to save me.

I'm so sorry, my fierce little pup.

Mommy failed to protect you from this cruelty.

I'm so sorry.

So very sorry.
