Emilia's POVThe stadium fell into complete silence.Thousands of spectators fixed their attention on Court Three. One game. That was all that separated Willowbrook Academy from its first victory at the National Championship.Mason Carter stood behind the baseline, the tennis ball resting in his palm.He bounced it once.Twice.Three times. Then he smiled."Let's finish this properly."Wesley twirled his racket."I wouldn't have it any other way."The umpire lowered his hand."Play."Mason's serve exploded across the net.It was every bit as powerful as before. The ball raced toward my backhand.I shifted quickly and met it with a controlled return that landed deep inside the court.Ava charged forward immediately. Her volley was sharp and aggressive.Wesley intercepted it with a composed forehand. The rally began.Ten shots.Fifteen.Twenty.Neither team yielded an opening. Each exchange drew increasingly louder applause."They're incredible!""This is only the first round!"Coach Ha

Emilia's POVMorning broke under a clear blue sky.The National Sports Complex was already filled with anticipation long before the first match began.Athletes stretched across the practice courts.Reporters moved efficiently between interviews.Spectators steadily filled the expansive stadium.Today marked the official commencement of the National Championship.I stood quietly beside the practice court, gently bouncing a tennis ball against my racket. Each steady rhythm helped regulate my heartbeat.Nervousness still lingered. Not from doubt in our abilities. But because this was the most significant stage either Wesley or I had ever stepped onto."You've been unusually quiet," Wesley said as he approached."I was thinking.""About today's match?"I nodded."Every team here is a regional champion.""There are no weak opponents."He offered a calm, reassuring smile."Good.""Good?""It means we’ll have to perform at our very best."His confidence eased the tension in my chest. Before

Emilia's POVThe morning of our departure arrived sooner than expected. Before sunrise, the Willowbrook campus was already bustling with activity.Students gathered outside the academy gates, waving blue and silver flags. Some held handmade signs that read:Bring Home the National Title!Willowbrook Believes in You!I tightened my grip on my sports bag as I surveyed the scene."So many people came to see us off."Wesley smiled."They're proud of you.""Our team," I corrected. He chuckled softly."Always thinking of everyone."Coach Harrison approached with a clipboard in hand."The bus departs in five minutes.""No one is to be left behind."Kael yawned dramatically as he boarded."I barely slept."Liam laughed."That's because you packed three times.""I wanted to be prepared.""You packed enough snacks to last a month.""They're emergency provisions."Everyone laughed, and the tension eased almost immediately.---The journey to the National Sports Complex took nearly four hours.Th

Emilia's POVThe six weeks leading up to the National Championship passed far more quickly than I had anticipated.Coach Harrison wasted no time. The very next morning, we were back on the court before sunrise.A cold mist drifted across the academy grounds as the first rays of sunlight crept over the mountains.I tightened my grip on my racket."This feels familiar," I said with a small smile.Wesley chuckled softly."It almost feels strange not training."Before either of us could say more, Coach Harrison blew his whistle."If you're here to talk," he called out, "you can do it while running."Kael groaned dramatically."Coach, it's barely six o'clock.""The sun isn't even fully awake."Coach Harrison looked at him evenly."You have two choices.""Run...""...or run faster."Liam laughed as Kael sighed in defeat."I knew you'd say that."Within moments, the entire team was circling the track.Ten laps became fifteen.Fifteen became twenty.By the time we finished, every one of us wa

Emilia's POVMorning arrived quietly over Willowbrook Academy. For the first time in weeks, I woke without the weight of an upcoming match pressing on my mind. The Regional Championship was over.We had won.The golden trophy now stood proudly in the academy’s display hall, where students paused to admire it before classes began. As Wesley and I walked across campus, we were met with applause and congratulations from every direction."Congratulations, Champions!""You were incredible yesterday!""Willowbrook finally did it!"I still wasn’t accustomed to the attention. Not long ago, people had avoided me.Now they smiled as I passed.Life truly had a way of changing."You’ll have to get used to it," Wesley said with a grin."I still feel like the same Emilia.""You are."He looked at me warmly."The difference is that everyone else finally sees who you’ve always been."His words lingered with me.---The academy assembly hall was filled before noon.Every student had been asked to atte
