Masuk"Kon? Can you please help me with this?" Tay called out from the storage.
Even this far from the club, you could still hear the sounds of the music.
That night was singles' night, and the bar was packed with customers. All the workers were occupied, and there was no room for them to rest.
"What's it?" Kon came into focus. He was dressed in the blue shirt the other workers wore, and his black trousers seemed a bit rumpled.
This was caused by the constant tugging and touching of the people in the bar as they danced.
"I need to take this out." Tay pointed to the larger-than-life carton at the top of the shelves.
"Is there anything you are doing with it?" Kon frowned at her.
"There are cups in there. We need to restock them for the customers," she explained with a cute pout on her face.
"Okay." Kon stretched his hands to get the carton from the shelves.
Tay smiled cutely as she watched him. She tucked her hair behind her ears as she cutely blinked at him.
"Thank you, Kon. You are a darling!" The way her eyes sparkled made it seem as if thousands of stars were crushed within them.
Tay had had a crush on Kon for months.
Actually, it began on the day he started working in the bar.
It was love at first sight.
She fell for the handsome, cute boy who was unaware of his charms.
"You are welcome." Kon, unaware of the woman's feelings, smiled at her.
He was happy to help out.
Having done the task, he turned to leave the store.
"Where are you going?"
"I have tables to serve. The VIP is packed."
"Really?" Her eyes widened at Kon's words. She was dramatic enough to pretend like she didn't know how packed the bar was.
"Yeah." He nodded. "It's packed."
"The owner will make tons of money from this. I wonder who gave him the idea to have a singles' night. It's lit."
"I know, right?" Kon smiled at her. "Well, if you don't mind, I will take my leave now. I have orders to attend to."
"Okay." Tay smiled at him, but she was unable to hide the disappointment in her eyes.
Kon nodded at her words before he left.
He was eager to work beyond his normal shift for more cash, as he was short on it.
After paying the monthly instalments, he had no money left to feed himself, which was why he was eager to make extra cash.
Tay sighed as she watched him leave.
"When will he ever notice my feelings?"
And she knew the answer to that question. It wasn't all that difficult for her to know that.
The answer was never.
Kon had his eyes set on paying off the debts his family owed. He wasn't ready for a relationship with anyone yet.
Sighing, she took the cups she wanted and left the carton on the table.
The blasting music from the speaker greeted her at the party.
Tay grimaced a bit at the onslaught of the music in her ears.
"Can I have one?" Kon had to shout for her to hear him.
Presently, she was in the corridor that led to the bar, where she stayed.
"You can." She gave him one of the cups.
"Thank you." Smiling at her, Kon made his way back to the party, and the loud, blaring music seemed to deafen everybody.
Tay watched him leave before walking to the storeroom to get a replacement for the cup Kon had taken.
Kon weaved his way through the sweating bodies of the supposed singles of the night.
One of the dancers tried to feel him up and ended up getting punched by Kon.
The man staggered a bit before he fell to the floor with a thumping sound that wasn't heard because of the loud music.
The others who were dancing around him didn't notice him at all. They kept on dancing while shamelessly grinding their bodies on each other.
Kon wanted to rush to the fallen man, but one thing stopped him. It was as if he were drenched with cold water from above.
He stopped when he remembered his need to keep this job.
The job might not pay well, but it was enough for him to cover the instalment f*e and schoolbooks.
He stood straight and replaced the angry expression on his face with a smile as he resumed his duty.
"Thank your stars."
He told the man, and he walked away with his jaw clenched.
The man was just lucky they met in his workplace.
Had it been another place, Kon would have shown him how his fists worked.
The drunk man gaped at him as he strode to the VIP room. He had his jaw clenched, and his fist balled in anger.
Wiping the drool on his mouth, he stood up, vowing to show that stupid boy that he messed with the wrong guy.
He would let it slide, for now.
The moment Kon left the general grounds, the sound of the music reduced.
"Hi, Kon." One of the bouncers, who stood guard outside the VIP room, smiled at Kon when he saw him.
Unlike the bar workers, Nat was dressed in all-black attire.
The black clothes he wore gave him bad-boy vibes, coupled with the tattoo on his skin and an ear piercing. His muscles were more visible because the polo he was wearing was so tight.
His dreadlocks completed his look. And that was his gate pass for getting a job there.
"Hi, Nat." Kon smiled brightly, having momentarily forgotten what had happened a few minutes ago.
"Checking on the rich guys?" He arched a brow at Kon. His expression was playful.
"Yeah," Kon sighed. "I was assigned the VIP for tonight."
Kon had a love-hate relationship with the VIP section.
As for tipping, they tipped more than the other customers. However, the way those rich guys grope a person's arse makes him green with anger.
"Be careful." Nat glanced around to make sure no one was paying attention to them before he whispered. "I heard the devil and his men are here tonight."
"Fuck," Lin glanced up to see more than five cars blocking them.Behind them were three cars. On one side was a residential building, and on the other side were three cars."What should I do, boss?" The driver asked in a neutral tone. He wasn't alarmed at all because this wasn't his first time being in a situation like this."Wait," Lin ordered. "Are you okay?" He turned to Kon with a concerned expression on his face.Kon nodded."Boss?""Wait!" Lin snapped at the driver. "I'm waiting for something."He said as he glanced at the car in the middle. It wasn't difficult to know that Osy was in that particular vehicle.A man dressed in black exited the vehicle and walked over to the back door. He bowed as he opened the door. And out stepped Osy."Osy?" Kon gasped.Images assaulted him at the sight of the same man his mind conjured not too long ago.He blinked.Lin frowned. "Wait for him to advance, knock into him, and take a right through the forest," he instructed his driver, then turned
"Quick, let's call your dad." Melina took out her phone to call Osy. However, before the phone could be answered, Kon and Lin were already out of the mall. They were halfway across the parking lot."What is it, Melina?" Osy snapped at his sister the moment he answered the phone. He was pissed off when he was disturbed while still seeking Lin's hideout."Your daughter saw your wife," Melina answered without beating about the bush. She knew it was urgent."What? Where was it? Is he there? How—""The mall. He was with his best friend. However, they are not here any more. They ran the moment Toto saw them," she explained as fast as she could."Shit!" Osy threw his phone to the wall. "Get the men ready. Call the office, and ask them to block all the ways in the city. Don't let the dark Lord slip from our grasp," he ordered Scorpion, who was beyond excited to leave Osy's presence. It was difficult enough kneeling in front of the devil all day."Yes, my Lord." He bowed to him before he rose
"Fuck!" Osy pushed the table down in anger. "How could you have let him leave alone!?" He growled at Scorpion."I'm sorry, master. I will take full responsibility for it." Scorpion bowed to him. "I will get him back," he said, tightly shutting his eyes and clenching his fists."It's too late." Osy showed him a message he got on his phone. "The Dark Lord is with him.""What?" Scorpion widened his eyes. "Why did the Dark Lord take him? You've not had a clash with him."It was a puzzle to Scorpion. The Dark Lord was one of the most feared mafia lords in the entire country. Though he doesn't frequently appear, his name instils fear in the lives of those who have been unfortunate to meet him.Although his fame wasn't like that of the devil, people feared him more than the other mafia lords."He's Kon's best friend," Osy gritted his teeth."Lin?" Shocked, Scorpion took a step back."Yes. He's the one with Kon," Osy said, walking to the window. "We have to find Kon. Take Toto back to my sist
"I'm sorry, Kon," Lin stepped closer to a struggling Kon. "Trust me, I never wanted to do this. But you left me with no choice.""Why are you doing this, Lin?" Kon furrowed his brows at him."Why am I doing all this?" Lin laughed. "Hasn't it always been obvious? I'm doing this because I love you, Kon." He touched Kon's cheeks. "I've always loved you. I can't think of a time when I never loved you.""No, that's not true," Kon shook his head. "You are my best friend, Lin.""But not to me," Lin sighed. "I only pretended to be your best friend so I could keep staying next to you."Kon huffed. "Okay, let's leave that out. How did you end up here? I thought we came to see your parents?" Kon tried to use that to check if Lin might let him go."Parents?" Lin scoffed. "I have no parents, Kon. The woman I lived with was the caregiver my uncle brought to look after me.""But…" Kon blinked. "You called her 'mother.'""Is there anything wrong with that?" Lin grinned. "I didn't see anything wrong w
Kon yawned. His head was pounding, and he was sweating. He blinked, looking around. He was in a strange room, with black pieces of furniture all around, but that wasn't his problem; it was the headache. He placed a hand on his head at the searing pain. It felt as if his head was about to split into two.Kon rose from the bed and slowly walked to the door. He tried the doorknob, and the door opened. With his hand clutched to his head, he walked out of the room and headed down the corridors. His mind was fuzzy. He didn't recall a thing. And when he tried to recollect, a searing pain through his head was all that greeted him as he staggered in the hall.He placed a hand on the wall to keep himself from falling."Kon?"An alarmed Lin rushed towards him, prompting him to stop.He squinted at the person in front of him as his mind tried to place the face. However, the scalding pain in his skull made him tightly shut his eyes. He grasped the nearest doorknob."What are you doing out here?" L
Scorpion looked reluctant."It's okay. You don't have to keep your face like that." Kon chuckled at the expression on his face. "You don't have to tell your boss anything. I will be back before you notice my absence.""And what of Toto? Do you think she will keep her mouth shut?" He furrowed his brows."Take her to get some ice cream. And should she ask of me, tell her I went to school to get a textbook I forgot." He pouted. "Please, Scorpion. Lin is my best friend; I need to help him.""Can't he go on his own? Doesn't he know you are dating my boss?" Scorpion folded his arms in displeasure. His words caused Kon to roll his eyes. "He's my best friend, Scorpion. You don't have to act as if I'm cheating on Osy behind his back. Besides, it's not as if I'm dating him.""Let him not hear those words from your mouth," Scorpion grumbled under his breath, looking a bit like a grumpy grandfather."So, am I free to go?" He blinked as cutely as he could. "Am I?" He pursed his lips. "Uncle Scorpi
