Liliac POV:

I stared out the window of my plane watching the clouds go by, while on one hand was a letter from my grandfather asking me to return to Greece.

I spent most of my life in the US studying after the death of my parents, Grandfather thought it was better for me to stay away from all these until he could finally call me home.

My name is Liliac Roman, Granddaughter of Roman Derez, the God father of the City of Greece and the most ruthless Mafia kingpin in the whole of Greece.

Once I arrived at the airport, I was taken through a special convoy back home.

I have missed Greece, studying abroad made me miss home more than anything.

Grandfather waited for me at the entrance of his estate, “liliac” he stretched forth his hand to me and I ran into the them.

The years haven’t been favorable to him, his hair was now stricken white and he could barely walk without his cane.

“I’ve missed you Grandpa”

“I missed you too my little beetle” I smiled, he hadn’t forgotten the nickname he always called me.

“Come in, we have a lot to discuss” he said.

The Roman family are known for one thing, we barely have patience, once we got to his study, he sat me down and began his briefings.

“What?” I screamed at him when I realized what he had just uttered.

“Calm down Liliac” he deferred.

“No” I shook my head as I sprung up from my seat, I should have known that he didn’t call me back because he missed me. It’s been two years since I graduated and he never reached out.

Now he wants me to get married.

“I am not marrying him” I blurted out.

“It is not up to you dear, it’s up to him”

By him, he was referring to Carter Reign, Son of Mr Reign, and heir to the Reign industries.

I have loathed this man from the day I was born, why? When I was five, he bullied me into jumping from the school window with just an umbrella.

Aside from the fact that he was my childhood bully, he was also the son of our rivals.

The Roman family and the Reign family have been at each other’s neck for years, each struggling for control over Greece, somehow my Grandfather managed to stay on top of them but that doesn’t mean they have surrounded to him.

Carter Reign was ruthless, at the age of five he had made his first kill, while I made mine at 9, where I shot a bear. It wasn’t the same thing as Carter who killed his uncle in cold blood.

“I have already sent a picture of you to him and my proposal, let’s just hope that he accepts you as his wife” Grandfather continued.

I begin biting my fingernails, a nervous tick I had developed from staying abroad, I silently prayed that he would reject me but who am I kidding.

Carter enjoyed bullying me when we were kids, he loved watching tears fall down my eyes, while he laughed at me and called me names. He would do anything to make me miserable like marrying me.

There was knock on the door then a man walked in with an envelope in a tray, my Grandfather reached for it then opened it.

His hands fell and his countenance changed,

“What is it?” I asked.

“He rejected you” he replied.

“What?” That sounded more absurd to me than him accepting me, I grabbed the letter and read it, there it was, Carter has really rejected me.

Who the hell does he think he is to reject me, was he doing this to taunt me, or it was because he really didn’t want me.

I stared back at Grandfather and he seemed to be more disappointed than I was, I know I should be happy that I wasn’t marrying Carter, but I also hate the fact that he rejected me.

I should be the one rejecting him after all that he did to me.

I watch my Grandfather hastily jump from his seat, he barely needed his cane as he racked through the drawers bringing out a file of papers.

“Sign each and every one of them now” he ordered. I stared at him frantically, these papers were more than the workload on his table, it would take me hours to finish reviewing and signing them.

“I can take them to my room and read them” I suggested.

“Sign them now” he barked at me, frenzy written all over his face, it was the first time he has raised his voice at me.

“What’s going on?” I asked watching him step backwards until his back was pressed against the wall. He looked scared, nothing has ever scared my Grandfather like this, infact I have barely seen any emotion on his face, not even on the day my parents died.

“Sign the papers” he ordered.

I began flipping through the pages as I signed my signature on each one of them, he made sure I didn’t miss a single page of it.

After two hours, I was finally done, my back aches from bending over so much. I had barely dropped my pen when a man walked into the room, wearing a black suit, and a big briefcase.

He gave me a slight nod then began arranging the papers on the desk.

“Go to your room Liliac, I will call you when I need you” Grandfather insisted, I got to my feet and made my way to the door.

“Is this enough?” I heard my Grandfather ask,

“I will try my best” the man responded.

“Please do all that you can, I am depending on you”

I closed the door behind me, confused by what was going on, something was wrong and I could feel it in my guts.

I stepped out of the guest room in a black hoodie and a blue sweatpants, to find them seated in the living room, waiting for me, I guess I took a longer time trying to get the stench of that fool and his touch off my body. How could two misfortune happen in one night? Once they say me, they stood to their feet’s. Alfred’s eyes still scanning body for any marks, I could tell he felt guilty with the way his eyes couldn’t stay off me. No matter how many times I tell him that it wasn’t his fault, he still doesn’t believe me. “It’s not safe for you here” he says immediately. Where else would be safer for me than in a house that I grew up in, surrounded by men who would lay down their lives for me. “We should move to another place” he adds pacing the room. I sit down on the sofa and cross my legs, “Why would I want to do that?” I replied. He looked at me confused, moving out a very reasonable decision but this house has been with my family for years. I grew up in thi

How could she? She never wanted to give me the answer, she was just toying with me till the end. I stared at her body on the ground, how could I have missed it. I thought I was close, I thought I had stricken fear into her heart, I could see in her eyes, the way she was terrified when I brought up her son. She was ready to tell me anything, what could have happened? How could she have changed her mind and just a second, it was just me and Beck that was here, no one else. Where the hell could she have found the courage to choose death instead of telling the truth. I know I wouldn’t spare her life after what she did, I don’t care if she believed I would, but that, that was enough reason to… “Fuck!” I screamed. I was back to square one, the only fucking clue I had to find it the truth about my grandfather’s death, was right in front of me, with her brain splattered all over the place. I turned away. I take a long bath scrubbing the blood off my body, the cold wat

I return to the room after eight long dragging hours, the kind that stretch your mind thin, and I find her all bloodied, her fingers twisted and nails pulled out like tiny petals ripped from a dying flower. Her face swollen beyond recognition, one eye barely open, a busted lip leaking slow lines of red. Cuts and bruises everywhere, like someone painted her body with violence. It wasn’t long ago when I heard her last scream echoing off the concrete walls, fading into the darkness like she was giving up piece by piece. I told her it wasn’t going to be easy. She didn’t believe me then. Her head hangs low against her right shoulder now, neck too weak to hold anything up. She could barely see through the puffiness and dried blood, but when her eyes catch the sight of a perfectly set pair of red heels clicking on the floor, she knows it’s me approaching. “Make it stop,” she whispers, her voice almost gone, body dangling from the chains, and anymore pressure her head could just come

I never thought I would see the woman who raised me when I was a child, neither did she expect to see me. So imagine the shock on my face too. She was considered as my second mother after the death of my mother. I remember her always being there for me, taking care of me, picking me up from school, how excited I used to be when she made my favorite meal. She was considered family. Why would she do such a thing? “Nanny” I called in shock. She looked at me with a bit of guilt in her eyes, with regrets, now my questions had multiplied. After I left for my studies, I was barely able to reach any one in the estate. Never would I have expected that it would be her. I could think of a dozen people who tried to kill my grandfather and she would never be on the list. “Why?” I asked. She looked away from me focusing on the ropes around her body, wriggling with it. “Why would you do such a thing?” I demanded but she kept quiet. “Who ordered you to do it?” I asked further.

Liliac “What the hell is wrong with you? Why would you push him out like that” I confronted him, emerging in front of him with my hands on my waist. He pauses, looking away from me. “Alfred?” I demanded. “I don’t like other guys around you” he reported still looking away. I should be pissed but instead I was thrilled, I almost let out a smile. “Why is that? Is it because you are jealous?” I teased him further, since he could barely look at me then I might as well make him feel shy. “Yes” he replied catching my gaze in an instant. I froze, I hadn’t expecting him to admit it, I expected him to be all professional about it and tell me about the dangers of people being around me. Especially since he has been denying for the past few days. “You” “I don’t like seeing anyone around you either” he added, his eyes burning with desire that I have never seen before. “Why?” I smiled, “Do you want to lock me up like a prisoner so that no one would be around me except you”

I stepped out in a black dress to meet Milt waiting at the base of the stairs, standing outside staring at me was Alfred with his arms folded and a grumpy look on his face. He had tried several attempts to stop this dinner but failed. I could almost laugh at him for acting like he wasn’t jealous over the date, it was clearly obvious, he tries to deny it each time thinking that his face doesn’t show how he feels sometimes. Funny that I have a degree in reading faces. “You look lovely” Milt caught my attention, I smiled at him as I walked down the stairs to him. “Thank you” I responded, “You look good too” “I try my best, my sister is the fashionista of the family” he answered. He wore a black shirt and brown trousers, he stretch his arms and I held unto them until he led me to the car. “You have a sister, I thought you were an only child” I stated. “A step sister, born 5 years after me” he laughed as he pressed his fingers on the wheel. Most people hated thier step
