LOGINWhen their hands connected, it was like magic. As corny as it sounded, this was exactly how they felt. Alex pulled away sooner than he wished, not because he did not like the feeling, but because he felt some guilt knowing that he already had a Luna.
He was not the kind of man to cheat; if anything, he hated cheaters. So whatever mind game that was going on, he was definitely not going to entertain it.
“I’m Kelly,” The omega said, sniffling. Her face was red, revealing that she was flustered and probably feeling what he was feeling as well. “Nice to meet you.” Her voice sounded so unique. But there was some pain behind those beautiful green eyes of hers.
Alex could not ignore that he had a connection to this girl. And he did not particularly hate it, but he respected his mate even more. So he decided to put an end to this interaction as soon as he could. “Nice to meet you, Kelly,” He said in reply. Then he breathed out through his nostrils. “Well, I need to continue my jog for the night. I hope you have a good night.” He flashed her a warm smile.
“Thanks,” She said in a soft tone. “You too.”
His gaze lingered on her just a few more seconds before he finally turned and left, continuing his jog.
As for Kelly, she was trying to wrap her head around what just happened. She had just literally met the Alpha of the pack. The freaking Alpha!
And also, what was that tension between them? And why? It did not make sense. That was the kind of feeling that should only be between mates…or people who were destined to be mates. There was no way she could ever be destined to be mates with Alex. He was married. He had marked his Luna already as his mate.
And even if he had not, there was no way someone as attractive and influential as him would pick someone as basic and insignificant as her. She knew that. She learned that from a very young age.
By the next morning, Kelly was at the back of the school bus wearing a look on her face that resembled one of a person who had no reason to stay alive. She had spent all night crying, begging the Moon goddess to just bring Jake back into her life.
How could she just get over someone she had fallen in love with?
But she knew that it was all for nothing. This was real life; she was not some female lead in a book or a movie that was going to have a happy ending. She was just like every other omega who would go to school, graduate, and then work at a crappy job for the rest of their lives.
She wasn’t special; if anything, it was worse for her, considering that she did not have a wolf.
When they arrived, she got down and made sure to avoid eye contact with everyone. She did not want to be noticed because she knew her place. She knew that this university was special; she knew that she did not belong there.
She was a first-year student, and the only reason that she was even afforded the opportunity to go there was that she had gotten a scholarship for her grades from high school. She was literally the only omega in the university. Even the alpha went there, but he was doing his master's.
As soon as she entered the building without anyone calling her a slur or bullying her, she figured she had won the day. She figured that maybe it was a sign that the Oracle Ceremony tonight was going to go well for her.
As she walked down the hallway, her eyes soon landed on someone who caused her heart to drop. It was Jake. And he saw her too. His eyes locked with hers, and she felt like she was being stabbed over and over in the heart.
She quickly turned around and started to find her way through the crowd of students, wanting to get away from the guy as soon as she could.
“Kelly, wait!” He called after her, but she did not stop.
She did not want to hear it. She did not want his pity. She did not want to hear him try to make her feel better about breaking her heart. She just wanted to get away from him. She soon lost him, happy that she had. But it felt like her heart was raw. She made her way to her locker finally, taking out a book before closing it and heading to her first class.
Almost all her classes went well, and no one noticed her. She was like a ghost. But the last one was a different story. The Luna was also in this class; she was a year or two older than the omega. She sat in a section of the class set aside only for her, but she had two friends who sat with her as well. They were happy, laughing and talking to each other in that tone that annoyed Kelly; that tone that almost all the girls at the tone spoke in.
Kelly went to her usual seat at the front of the class. The teacher soon came, and when class was over, that was when it began. She stood to her feet and mistakenly lightly bumped into a blonde girl, causing the girl’s lipstick that she was holding to drop on the floor and break.
“Aw, sh*t,” The omega cursed under her breath, just knowing that she was done for. She immediately got down and picked it up before offering it to the girl as she apologized, “I am so sorry.”
The girl scoffed before suddenly slapping the lipstick back to the floor. “Are you serious?”
The lecturer saw what was going on, but he did not say anything. He simply folded his laptop and walked out of the class. He had no business when it came to these high-ranked werewolves. He was only trying to do his job.
“Please, I didn’t—”
“Shut the f*ck up!” The girl spat the words. “You can’t even afford a decent plate of food, and you seriously just ruined my lipstick?!” The girl chuckled darkly. She took a step closer and said, “I need you to pay for it.”
“I—”
“Pay for my sh*t, or I swear, I’m going to make you regret it,” The girl threatened.
Everyone was staring at what was happening, including the Luna of the pack. She just stood there with her friends, the look on her face that could not be deciphered.
Kelly’s heart was thundering in her chest, and adrenaline was rushing through her. “How much is it?” She made the mistake of asking.
The girl rolled her eyes rudely. “As if you can even afford it. Get out of my face, trashy b*tch,” She said as she shoved the omega to the floor.
“Hey, that’s enough,” The Luna said. She was Luna of the pack, but right now, she was just a student here, just like everyone. She did not want to be seen or treated as anything more. “I will pay for your lipstick, Jessica. Just leave her alone.”
Kelly slowly got off the floor, and in shame, she stepped back and kept her head down as she tried to collect her things to leave. She could feel so many eyes on her, and most of them were laughing at her.
When she had collected her things, she gave the Luna one quick glance before quickly walking out of fthe classroom.
She did not even stop at her locker; she rushed toward the exit of the school building with tears falling down her face. She just wanted to go home. She hated her life, she hated who she was. She wanted to go home and prepare for her one chance to be able to escape all of this.
She felt like, with a mate, people would treat her better. She would start to learn to love herself, and things would be better. So yeah, she was really looking forward to the Oracle Ceremony because she felt it would be the one night that would change her life forever.
When she stepped out of the building, she was met by Alex. He was not sitting far from the exit and was talking to a guy who must have been his friend.
But the moment he saw her, his eyes shifted, and he rushed towards her.
Alpha Alex stood there, in front of the mirror. After he was done with his cuff, he stared at his reflection. He could not help but chuckle sadly. He looked just like his father when the man was younger. And that made him sad. If the man had never gotten so sick, to the point of losing his memories and sense of self, he would have still been alpha, and Alex would have never taken over at such a young age. And if his mom had never died from that mysterious illness around the same time, he would not have been with Cassandra. But this was his life, and there was nothing he could do about it. All he had to do was endure for the pack, and in honor of his parents. It was not like he wanted to trap Cassandra; that was far from what he wanted. He was not even the one to blame. Her parents agreed to this, which was why they were together. He wished that he loved the girl; that would have made all this a bit easier. But he did not. Sighing, he ran his hand through his wavy brown hair, walki
Kelly did not stop, though. She kept walking, feeling embarrassed to be seen like this. Omegas were usually seen as weak already; she did not want to reinforce that narrative. She did not want to feed the stereotype. So she rushed down that driveway, making her escape. “Kelly!” But as soon as the guy called after her, she stopped. Her legs became like cement, and she turned to see the Alpha makig his way towards her. “What are you doing? You saw me, didn’t you? Why are you running away from me?” He asked, worry tinged in his tone. He was breathing a bit harder than normal from chasing her. Before she could even say anything in response, he asked, “Are you okay? What happened?” Kelly was taken aback by this; she did not expect the Alpha to care this much about her. She felt a warmth filling her that she could not explain, even though the pain from what had happened still lingered. “I…” She contemplated telling the truth and explaining. But what was the use? Omegas were always going

Kelly’s nervous system was f*cked up. She was shaking, and her heart was bleeding. She felt like she was losing her mind. Of course, the first time in her life that she had fallen for someone, she had to be betrayed. How was this guy capable of acting as if what they had shared meant nothing? How was that even possible? “You can’t be serious, are you?” She asked him as they sat in the same place where it had all begun, the same park where they had sat for hours almost every night, getting to know each other. “This is the third month of us knowing each other, and you’re telling me that you’re gay?” She scoffed, holding back her tears. She felt like he did not deserve to see her cry…he did not deserve to see how much pain he had caused her. He did not deserve to see how broken she was right now, all because she did not want to lose him. It was pathetic, wasn’t it? Not wanting to lose someone who was never truly yours, to begin with. “There’s nothing wrong with being gay,” He replie
