I was an omega without a wolf. The girl nobody wanted. Then the Oracle revealed the impossible. My mate was the Alpha. The same Alpha who already had a Luna. Now everyone wants me gone, but the Moon Goddess has other plans. A rare power is awakening inside me, and the fate of the entire pack may rest in my hands. If I survive long enough to claim what's mine.

Chapter 1

1. Am I Not Enough?

Kelly’s nervous system was f*cked up. She was shaking, and her heart was bleeding. She felt like she was losing her mind. Of course, the first time in her life that she had fallen for someone, she had to be betrayed.

How was this guy capable of acting as if what they had shared meant nothing? How was that even possible?

“You can’t be serious, are you?” She asked him as they sat in the same place where it had all begun, the same park where they had sat for hours almost every night, getting to know each other. “This is the third month of us knowing each other, and you’re telling me that you’re gay?” She scoffed, holding back her tears.

She felt like he did not deserve to see her cry…he did not deserve to see how much pain he had caused her. He did not deserve to see how broken she was right now, all because she did not want to lose him.

It was pathetic, wasn’t it? Not wanting to lose someone who was never truly yours, to begin with.

“There’s nothing wrong with being gay,” He replied to her in a soft tone, his eyes trained on hers.

“I know,” She said without missing a beat. “There’s nothing wrong with being gay. I don’t care about that. What I do care about is what we shared for the past few months. It all meant something to me. How can you say you don’t feel what I feel? I…how is that even possible?”

“You don’t understand.”

She scoffed. “Yeah…” Her voice dropped, and she looked away from those beautiful brown eyes of his, her gaze landing on her hands in her lap. “I really don’t.” She remembered how he used to look at her; how he used to take every opportunity to physically touch her shoulder, or her neck. Or sometimes even her lower back.

They had not kissed on the mouth yet, but he had kissed her shoulders so many times. He said he had never dated anyone before, never been touched in his life. He said that no one had made him feel the way she made him feel.

So what had suddenly happened?

She really wanted closure…she really wanted an explanation. But she feared that she might not get a proper one.

“Look at me, Kelly,” He said, and even though she was so hurt and angry at him, she listened. How could she not? She was his. Maybe not anymore. But she used to believe that he used to be hers. “You’re a beautiful person. You’re amazing. I’m sure you will find someone. I’m sure you will find a mate that will give you everything that you ever dreamed of.”

“Jake…” She said his name, her voice breaking sadly. She did not want somebody else. She wanted him. She did not want to get to know a new person; she did not want to go through all that. She wanted him to be her person. And for these past three months, she really had thought that he was.

“I just can’t be that mate…” He sighed. “I am so sorry, Kelly.” He stood on his feet. Placing his hands in his pockets, he continued, “The Oracle Ceremony is tomorrow night. You just turned eighteen last week; you’re still young. It’s a great place to find someone.”

The Oracle was a ceremony that happened once a year. It was for werewolves to find a mate, but you had to be eighteen and above to attend. Everyone in the pack that could attend always did. Even the alpha of the pack and his Luna attended every year to honor the ceremony.

Before Kelly could say anything, the guy turned and started to walk away. She stared at him, her heart squeezing as the tears she had held back finally fell. Her vision got blurred for a split second, but after blinking, it cleared, and she watched Jake get into his car, soon driving away.

She sat there, in the cold of the night.

She sat there, trying to figure out where she had gone wrong. Was he being honest about his sexuality, or had he found someone better? She was not the prettiest girl in the town. In fact, she hated how she looked. She hated her body, her hair, and the fact that she could not even shift into her wolf yet, even though she was old enough.

So yeah, maybe he had found someone else. The possibility was high. Why would he want an omega when he was the son of one of the councilmen in the pack, when he was popular and incredibly hot?

“Gosh,” She sobbed the words out before pulling on her hair. This was the first person that she had ever felt a real connection with, the very first who had even given her a chance and made her feel like she was not broken. She had been seriously considering allowing him to mark her whenever he wanted.

She was ready to give him a family and to be his mate for the rest of her life.

The tears fell freely, and she sat there crying for almost half an hour before finally wiping her face and deciding to leave. She stood up, hugging herself as she started to make her way home. She did not live far from where the park was, and she also did not have a car.

How would she have one when her mom was a single mother with a job that paid her barely enough, all because she was an omega? Her father had left them years ago, at least that was what her mother had told her. So it had just been the two of them…struggling and trying their best in this classist town of theirs.

As she made her way down the dimly lit path of the park, her heart continued to burn, and more tears leaked from her eyes. Every step she made reminded her of Jake. This park was their place, their very own spot.

She blinked for a moment, and as soon as she opened her eyes, she bumped into someone and almost fell. The person grabbed her and helped her steady herself.

“Are you okay?” The guy asked in a worried tone.

As soon as Kelly gained her composure, she looked up and locked eyes with the person and immediately recognized who it was. It was literally the Alpha of the pack! “Oh my god, I am so sorry!” She started to apologize. “Please forgive me, sir. I didn’t see you. It’s all my fault. Please…” She was scared out of her mind…incredibly nervous. This was her first time meeting someone as powerful and influential as him.

Alex chuckled weakly while looking at her. “Stop,” He said softly. “It was a mistake, we all make those, right?” He flashed her a soft smile. The more he looked at her, the more something warm and electrifying stirred in him. Something that he had not felt for a very long time. But he brushed it off. It was probably nothing. Probably. “Are you okay, though?” He asked.

“I was the one who ran into you like a mad person,” Kelly reminded him, and could not help but chuckle too. “I am so sorry, sir.”

“Stop apologizing,” He laughed weakly. “And also, stop calling me sir. My name is Alex.” He extended his hand to her for a handshake. “And you are?” He smiled lopsidely, his eyes trained on this nervous little damsel in distress that he felt so drawn to.

Kelly stared at his outstretched hand, and for the first time since Jake had walked away, her chest…her chest didn’t hurt quite as much.

Then she placed her hand in his.
