Chapter 1

"I want to spend it with just the two of us, of course!" Maya looked at me with such an expectant look that I wondered if something had gone wrong with the truth serum. After all, in the three years we had been married, I had never doubted her love.

I studied her eyes, then tested her by resting my hand on her in a way she could not mistake for anything else.

Maya did not pull away.

Then I turned, opened the nightstand drawer, and took out the unopened box of condoms from inside.

The next second, my whole body went stiff. They were not my size.

Maya sensed the change in me. She pushed herself up and asked, confused, "What's wrong, Honey?"

"Nothing... I rushed back overnight. I might just be tired," I said.

"Then get some rest first. We have plenty of time." She winked at me.

I immediately thought of Randy Long's posts from a while back: [What should I do when she's so clingy? She's about to drain me dry.]

[Unlocked another new position. Doesn't matter if the last guy didn't teach her right. The next guy has plenty of ways.]

The rest of our mutual friends had teased him, but I was the only one who had taken it seriously. "Do you have a girlfriend now? It's not good to post things like this. It's a little disrespectful."

But Randy had simply replied, "No, she loves it. When you get home, you'll see her."

I had thought Randy meant he was bringing his girlfriend over to meet us. I never imagined this was what he meant.

I lowered my head and asked casually, "How have things been at home lately? Has Randy been giving you a hand?"

Maya paused, then smiled. "Of course. The Christmas is almost here, and there's a lot to prepare. Randy's been helping with everything. You really have to thank him properly."

"Is that so? In that case, let's have him over for dinner tonight," I said.

Maya's eyes lit up. She quickly sat up in bed and said, "Then I'll go grocery shopping. You just got back, so stay home and rest."

As I watched her hurry away, I could feel how every breath caused me pain. In the past, no matter how tired I was, I never would have let her shop and cook by herself.

But now...

Maya worked fast. Before long, she came back carrying a lot of expensive ingredients.

When she noticed me looking at them, she explained easily, "He's your friend, I can't embarrass you, can I? Besides, he has helped me so much."

I did not answer. I was such a fool. Every time she casually made me a bowl of pasta, I'd find myself moved to tears.

That night, Randy arrived empty-handed. As soon as he came in, he opened the shoe cabinet like he owned the place.

His sight landed on the slippers on my feet, and he said rudely, "Hey, why are you wearing my slippers? Give them back. You sure had it easy, dumping your wife on me like that. You nearly wore me out."

When Maya heard that, she hurried over with a glass of water and told him to sit on the couch and rest.

During dinner, Maya kept piling food onto Randy's plate until it was heaped with dishes. Meanwhile, all I had in front of me was a plate of celery, something I had never liked.

I took a deep breath, forced down the pain in my chest, and tested him. "Where's your girlfriend? Why didn't you bring her?"

Randy set down his fork and gave me a meaningful look. "Because her husband wouldn't let her."

My expression darkened as I looked him straight in the eye. "Since when did you start sleeping with married women? Aren't you afraid that someday your actions will come back to haunt you?"

He didn't take it seriously at all. "Wow, look at you, Mr. Righteous. That idiot husband of hers still thinks his wife is hopelessly in love with him. Meanwhile, he's out there risking his life to earn money for the two of us to spend."

He shrugged. "I'm just taking care of his wife's emotional and physical needs for him. Besides, it's not like I didn't put in the effort."

After saying that, he even winked at Maya.

Maya glanced at me nervously before forcing a laugh. "Randy's always messing around like this. He never knows when to stop joking. Eric, don't take anything he says too seriously. "

  • Truth Reveals All   Chapter 8

After leaving the prison, I went home. As I was passing by the property management office, an older security guard called out to me and handed me a thick stack of envelopes. "Mr. Palin, these are your letters. The mailboxes were repaired a few days ago, so we sorted these out for you. Take them home." I took the envelopes in surprise and saw that every return address was from the prison where Maya was being held. Maya had sent one almost every three days, but she probably did not know I never checked the mailbox at home. She had asked to see me earlier, but I had refused every time. Maybe that was why she had started writing letters. I opened the earliest one. Inside, she wrote scattered details about her life in prison. For most of the remaining pages, Maya carefully explained why she had cheated with Randy. It was far more detailed than what I had seen in their messages. At first, she truly had no thought of cheating at all. What she thought about most every day was hop

Knowing there was no way to fix things, Maya stopped struggling and could only stare at me blankly. I took a step back, looked around at everyone again, and said in a low voice. "I won't pursue what kind of roles you played in today's events since this is your first offense. If you have a personal grudge against me, come to me privately and settle it. But if I ever hear you insult a member of the military again, the consequences won't be something you want to face." Everyone quickly nodded, afraid I would change my mind. The man who had attacked my crotch earlier also stepped forward timidly to apologize. "I'm sorry, man. We really didn't know what was going on. Randy told us he had a friend who always looked down on him and used his rank to force him into looking after his house, so he asked us to help him vent. I got carried away, and... Why don't you hit me a couple of times? I truly feel bad." The others came over one after another to apologize too. "Yeah, I'm sorry. Randy

But Randy merely rubbed his face and looked at Maya with contempt. "Of course, you can say whatever you want now. You and your husband are pinning everything on me. Back when you seduced me, that wasn't what you said." Maya was about to hit Randy again, but I stopped her. I looked at Randy with disgust and said, "Do you think this is all I have? I exported all the messages between you two. The timeline proves you seduced her on purpose. Yes, Maya did something wrong, and she should pay for it as well, but you had malicious intent from the very beginning. I really want to know something, though. Is seeing your best friend successful enough to make you hate me that much?" When Randy heard that, he suddenly rushed forward and shoved me hard. Rage twisted his face into something ugly. "Yes! I couldn't stand it! Why should you get everything? Why did everyone only ever see you when we all grew up together? Our parents praised you, our friends envied you, and you even married a gentle wi

Maya and Randy froze when they heard the soldier's accusation against them. Meanwhile, I looked at them coldly as I said, "Didn't you want a birthday gift? This is it. Enjoy it with your new boyfriend." Everyone looked stunned. After they came back to their senses, they all stepped forward to intervene. "Sir, there must be some mistake. You can't cover for each other just because you're all soldiers." "Exactly. Randy only looked after Eric's wife because Eric asked him to. How could Eric turn around and blame him for something he didn't do?" When Randy heard that, he instantly hid his panic and spoke with righteous anger. "Exactly! If you're accusing me of something like that, you need evidence, right? I didn't do anything! Even if there was some misunderstanding, it was because someone threw herself at me! How can you blame me for it?!" After that, he deliberately glanced at Maya. That look nearly made Maya break down. She raised her hand and pointed at him, but for a lo

I forced down my anger and took photos of all the evidence. I then organized it with the videos I had taken before and submitted everything to the military with a single tap. The military took soldiers' marriages seriously, and what they had done could be charged under the crime of interfering with a military marriage. Just as I was done, Maya came out of the shower. By then, I had already regained my calm. I said, "Let's do what you want for your birthday." - On Maya's birthday, everyone showed up to celebrate with the two of them. During the meal, Randy suddenly stood up and handed Maya a beautifully wrapped gift. As soon as Maya opened it and saw the sexy lingerie inside, the whole room began cheering. Randy raised his eyebrows at me. "See how good I am to you? Absence makes the heart grow fonder, you know? So, I'm helping you warm her up." Then, he turned to Maya and said meaningfully, "Drink more tonight. Don't forget to put it on." Maya blushed shyly and scolded

  • Truth Reveals All   Chapter 3

During the three days Randy was hospitalized, Maya brought him full meals every day without fail. Meanwhile, I nursed my own injury alone, forcing myself out of bed through the pain just to toast the bread. As for Randy, he kept posting on social media to provoke me. [A little scrape on my head still doesn't hurt my stamina.] [My girlfriend's really starving. She's so eager.] I calmly closed the app before getting up and driving to the hospital. When Randy saw me come in, he raised his eyebrows and said in a sarcastic tone, "Well, look who it is. You still remember your friend is staying in the hospital?" I ignored his mockery and walked over. Then, I pressed down on his head and turned it from side to side a few times. "You look fine. Why haven't you been discharged yet?" Randy impatiently shook off my hand, a strange smile tugging at his lips. "What can I do? My girlfriend insisted on spending her husband's money so I could stay a few extra days. Otherwise, she wouldn't
