I don't let them do anything else. Rhys makes a sound — low, involuntary, the sound of his side of it snapping too. "Accept it," I say. "Aud—" "Accept it, Rhys. Right now." He looks at me for a long moment with those wide eyes and whatever is sitting behind his expression that I am not going to spend any more of tonight trying to read. "I accept," he says. Quiet. Raw. "I, Rhys, accept the rejection." The last of it goes.

“That’s all.” Without giving myself another chance to second-guess the decision… I click Accept.

“Tell Alpha Lucio that we accept the alliance.” The words landed heavy in the room. Silence followed... thick, stunned silence. Jace blinked once. Then again. “W-What?” he stammered, genuinely thrown off balance. “You heard me,” I said evenly, leaning back in my chair. Calm. Controlled. “Exactly.” He circles me, hands clasped behind his back, eyes tracing the lines of power that lace my body. I feel his attention like fingers brushing along my spine, invasive without touching. The bond between me and the Alphas stirs instinctively, a low, anxious thrum—but I don’t reach for them. That’s the point. “Resistance fractures the conduit,” Kaelen says, echoing the words Vivia found. “But acceptance… acceptance refines it.” My wolf bristles at the word, hackles rising. Accepting him feels like poison. But I swallow the instinct to snarl and focus inward instead.

“I know.” Her tone stays light. “Still want him to reject you?” The answer sits in my throat like a stone. “Yes.” Amber doesn’t press untill I add, softer this time, “No.” She opens one eye and smirks. “That’s how it starts.” “What does?” I raise a brow at her, my fingers around my belly. “Acceptance. Not of him, but of what the bond is. What it connects. It doesn’t make you weak.” She smiles softly, like she knows the internal struggle in having with the bond with Zane.

“To be rejected means you are being abandoned by the man destined to spend forever with you. When you accept my rejection, the both of us would be free from that ridiculous fate.” I watched her lips curl into a bright smile. “If I accept your rejection, does that mean I can go back home and never have anything to do with you?” She asked, sounding excited. “Yes,” I nodded. “How am I going to accept your rejection?” I hesitated before replying, “Repeat this statement after me,” I paused, giving her the chance to get ready. “I, Dina of the human realm, accept your rejection, Alpha Lykoz MoonRise.”

She managed to get to the faucet nearby to wash her face, but even though she managed to wash her face and neck off, tears continued running down her tears.
