The next morning, I found Mrs. Henderson's cake shop easily. The smell of sugar and butter drew me.
Austin was waiting at a small table near the window. He looked much better today—his face was clean, his hair combed, and he wore fresh clothes.
"You came," he said, standing to pull out my chair.
"Of course I came."
He signaled to the shopkeeper, an elderly woman with flour-dusted hands. "Two honey cakes, please, Mrs. Henderson."
