From the dangerous gleam in my father’s eyes, I doubt it was anything as simple as convincing her to leave. “Can I have a moment alone with my mate?” Austin asks stiffly. I see the irritation my father’s face, but he glances at me. “I’ll be back in a bit. And don’t try to stick soldiers to me again.” The last part is aimed at Austin, the tone almost nasty. “This is my daughter’s home now. I will come and go as I please.” Austin doesn’t say anything, but closes the door when my father leaves. He leans against it, watching me. “How are you feeling?”

Sure this wasn't the right time to bring up a relationship to the family but that was no excuse for his lousy behavior. Even so, her presence should be a thing of happiness for the entire family. A smile appeared on her lips while thinking about Alex. "So, she doesn't have any idea about my father's death!" Austin yelled inside when a sigh escaped from his mouth. Jenny nodded her head in the denied way while gesturing to him with her eyes—common, don't ask anything.
