Maybe she already knew Matteo had discovered the truth. “Matteo, I just heard—” Her voice came through frantic, breathless. “Someone said Bella’s been killed. Tell me it’s not true.” She sounded like she cared. Almost convincingly so. “Calm down, V.” Matteo’s tone softened. He even glanced at Lorenzo as if to say, See? She’s not the killer. “I just confirmed it myself,” he continued. “The body was hers. She had been… brutally abused and killed.”

I hissed, my eyes searched through the rooms. “Where’s Bella?” I questioned, using my wolf strength. It echoed so loud that everyone had to cover their ears. Her little brother stepped toward.
