he whispered in my ear sending shivers down my spine. "Wha- " I was cut off. "Royal vampires can read minds," he said confidently, "don't worry I think you're pretty sexy too." I scoffed, walking past him, not wanting to talk to him. “Hey I was not done talking to you.” He yelled from behind me, running to catch up with me. “Listen vampire, I have pepper spray in my bag, I also box, so I suggest you leave me alone before I use it on you,” I lied about both of them, I couldn’t fight and I was stupid to walk around without pepper spray.

I wanted to scream, still coughing I fall off the bench my hands clutched my shirt in the chest area as it felt like it was going to explode soon. "You okay dear?" A voice asked Without raising my head I shook my head rapidly. "no I'm not fine, I'm not okay," I cried out. The person helped me back on to a chair before asking if there was someone I could call, I nodded my head and asked her to check the pocket of my jeans which she did, I asked her to call Caleb and as instructed she did.

He lowered me onto the couch gently, as though I were porcelain already cracked. “Lean back,” he murmured softly. “Elena, breathe.” Breathe. What a useless word. What a cruel request. How does a mother breathe when her babies are missing? My lips trembled as I struggled to steady my breaths. But I couldn’t. I couldn’t force the air into my lungs without feeling like it was slicing me apart. “I, I can’t do this,” I whispered, shaking my head, trembling from the inside out. “I can’t… I can’t just sit here. I can’t just wait. Elijah, Darian, I can’t, ”

My breath came shallow and sharp, each inhale scraping. “Easy.” Kaden’s voice. Right there. Close. His hand was already on my back, solid and grounding, fingers splayed like he was anchoring me to the present by force. “You do not get points for bravery,” he added quietly. “I was not trying to be brave,” I muttered. “I was trying not to drown in my own ribs.” Kael snorted from somewhere nearby. “That checks out.” I forced my breathing to slow. In. Out. The hum settled with it, coiling tighter, denser. Waiting.

Breathless. Horrified. For this is more than simply a kiss. This is not a passing moment. This covers everything. Sylas's chest rises and falls quickly as his eyes dart about mine. He says nothing and doesn't probe why I stopped. He just watches. Given that's his true nature. Given his familiarity with me. I— My mouth quakes. "I'm unable." His facial expression remains the same. He only nods, stepping aside just enough to provide room. His hands slide from my waist, yet his touch leaves traces of heat. "I know," he says in a subdued voice

“Everything is fine.” I didn’t even realize I wasn’t breathing until he pointed it out. “Lisa, baby,” he murmurs, his tone filled with gentle reassurance. “You need to stay with me. Just listen to my voice, okay? Breathe. Breathe for me.” He takes a deep breath, demonstrating for me, and I find myself mirroring his movements. Slowly but surely, my breathing steadies. The tightness in my chest loosens, and I can finally inhale deeply on my own.

My heart beats so fast and im running out of breath. "Ah-ah! Na-na. Ahhhhh!" I screamed. //Bless you! 🥰

Adom just continues to try and drag in breath after breath unsuccessfully, starting to feel lightheaded. "Okay. You're hyperventilating. Try to take deep breaths" Alexander tries to demonstrate by taking exaggerated breaths in and out. Adom is too panicked to listen properly; his chest doesn't ache as much but he can't seem to catch his breath. Alexander grabs Adom face and tries to catch his eyes. "Look at me," Alexander caresses his cheek with a thumb, tender and easy. "Look at me," He repeats and Adom looks, as if the voice had commanded him to. "Follow me," Alexander inhales, holding it for a few seconds before letting it out and then repeating. Adom copies him until his breathing evens
