one of the girls slurred. “Yeah you’re right.” the first girl hummed. She lowered her voice. “But hey, what about that other girl, Wren?” My eyes widened as I pushed myself against the wall. Now they were onto me?! “What about her?” “Cyrus seems awfully interested in her.” the first girl slurred. They were trying to keep the conversation seem like a secret but their drunk selves have underestimated their loud volumes. I pinched the bridge of my nose as these girls would go so far as to think bullying would make a man interested in a girl.

I know they are a couple, but Evie keeps on trying to rub it in my face. "BUT I WANT YOU!" he screams and then stops, becoming very still. "I want you," he repeats, his voice barely more than a whisper. "You...You want me?" I'm not sure what to think of his confession. Does he mean what he is saying? Does he know what it implies? "But you...Boys like you, boys with everything, they don't want girls like me. I'm the bastard daughter of a disgraced heiress. I grew up poor in the central valley of California." I remind him. I hit my head with my hands, trying to push away the confusing thoughts as I continued walking to class. The final bell rang and I hesitated to leave the classroom. I knew what awaited me outside; a group of bullies, ready to pounce on me. I waited for everyone to leave, but it seemed like they were taking their own sweet time. As I was lost in my thoughts, I suddenly felt something cold and wet dripping on my head. I gasped in shock and looked back to see Steve's friends, grinning at me. They had poured water on me. My shirt was soaked, and my skin was visible from underneath. I felt a pang of embarrassment and shame wash over me.

He backed up to the door and pulled it ajar, letting the bullies enter. Jayce tutted and shook his head as he passed. He was at least a head taller than the rest of them and had fists the size of boulders. Everyone knew this guy was an animal when it came to fighting. It was the consensus that if you got targeted you rolled up and played dead, much like the protocol for a bear attack. "I'm sorry, okay?" Alfie cried. "I'm sorry. I only went with her because she bought me stuff. I don't even like her."
