The truth we’d have to keep hidden. I turned onto my back, staring at the ceiling. I’d crossed the line tonight. And once you crossed, there was no going back. The only question left was whether Ava and I were strong enough to survive whatever came next.

“No, it wasn’t us. It was Alpha Austin, looks like an ambush. No one is in any of the vehicles, I don’t want to search the surrounding area and leave her.” I went to open my door and Caleb stepped over, closing it back. He got back in the car, “got it, we’ll proceed.” Caleb set his phone back down and closed his door, slowly driving around the wreckage. He looked back at me, “they were ambushed, I’m not sure where they are but Beta Zaine is going to get Beta Ryan and they’re going to head out and see what they can find.”

"Hey, don't be surprised. Sadie's always been kind of slow. She hit her head in a car crash when she was 16." "For real? And Caleb's been letting a girl like that chase after him for years? Isn't that kinda gross?" Caleb lit a cigarette. He exhaled slowly and asked, "If an idiot chased you for years, wouldn't you find it gross?" "Ugh, even thinking about it gives me the creeps." Everyone laughed at his dramatic shudder. I gripped my phone tightly. On the screen was a message Caleb had sent me three hours ago. "I'm hurt. Mount Crescent peak. Get here in three hours."

And they were tearing these humans apart. Caleb and his men kept flying, further south, heading for City Hall. They flew past Columbus Circle and kept going, veering down Broadway. If there was at least one saving grace, it was that, thus far, all of Kyle’s vampires had been so focused on the ground that they never bothered to look up. It seemed that Caleb, Samuel and their men had sole dominion of the skies. But Caleb thought too soon. Suddenly, as he and his band of warriors flew into Times Square, he looked up to see dozens of Kyle’s vampires flying right towards them. Caleb and his men had been so busy looking down, that they almost had no time to brace for impact.

He lets out a roar so thunderous that it rattles the house's windows. Lana activated the locator spell finding that Sky and Vistor were only a few yards from the house. She instructed Jessica to inform Marco, who would then relay the message to Zion. Upon hearing this, Caleb transforms back into his human form, allowing Zion to collect details. Jessica established a link with Marco and Zion to lead them to Sky's location. As they approached the backyard, a scream pierced the air. Their hearts sank, recognizing it was Sky's scream, uncertain whether it was from defeating Victor or if something was amiss, like an injury or trouble with the baby. Without concern for the scenario, Caleb shifted

I tell him wanting to maybe find some answers he may have since Kate told me he was the one that found me. Caleb shifted in his chair and ran his hand through those luscious golden locks of waves before saying, “I was out hunting heading back because of a storm that pushed in, and I heard a loud explosion. When I made it to the scene a SUV smashed to the point of recognition was engulfed in flames. I looked up towards where the road was and saw your lifeless body. You were barely hanging onto life and when I picked you up to carry you…” Caleb paused like he was thinking about what he was about to say and then continued, “I knew I had no time and had to bring you here.”

He hurried out his bedroom, down the corridor, and up a stone, twisting stairwell, leading up to the roof. Caleb strutted across the ramparts until he reached the edge, and looked down and saw Caitlin and the others crossing the drawbridge over the moat. “Caitlin!” he called out, cupping his hands against the wind. Far down below, Caitlin turned and looked up, as did the girls surrounding her. Caleb grinned wide and waved. “I love you!” he mouthed silently. She grinned back and waved, silently mouthing the words back. Then she was ushered away by her group of girls.

These two knew how to work together, and even though they're different in a lot of ways, both of them put in work to their relationship, I love them both for that. "Have you been able to reject going to that naked bathing," Caleb asked as he turned towards me on the bed where I sat. "No!" I sharply answered as though I'd been waiting for him to remember I was here and talk to me, and maybe I'd been waiting. "Well, you have to find a way Kayla, for all we know, this might yet be another ploy for you, for me, for the whole of Crescent pack, and we don't wanna walk right into a trap," Caleb explained and I just nodded affirmatively, I didn't need to be told this was a trap, I knew that already.

"The rest you have to figure out yourself, Miss Edgard. Just remember that there is a reason for everything happening inside the mansion. The Rivermoon pack is special." A shudder crawls down my spine at his words, and my discomfort settles like lead in my stomach. How do I go from a runaway bride to being kidnapped by my childhood friend in one day? And now Caleb's pack is cursed? I must also be half-crazy because I'm curious about Caleb. What does he look like today? I bet he is handsome. Probably tall, too. He was already a giant before he moved away from Werewolf Valley. Muscular. Beautiful.

The impact was loud; the metal ribs of the beast bent inward, and sparks from its destroyed machinery sprayed into the rising water. But there were too many of them. Three more dropped from the ceiling, their claws scraping against the wet floor as they began to circle. Caleb was shivering, with his knees buried in the cold water. He was trying to hold his silver light up, but his hands were shaking so hard the aura looked like a flickering candle. The grey lines on his skin were dark, almost black now. "I... I can't find the mountain," Caleb sobbed, his head hanging low. "Colin, I can't tell what... But it’s blocking me. I can’t hear the earth. I can’t help you."
