AFTER THE FALL
But William's voice betrayed his distress, cutting through the usual pleasantries.
"I'm... I'm in the worst moment of my life, Jayden," William confessed, his voice heavy with sorrow and vulnerability. "I need you more than ever right now."
Jayden's concern was serious. "Where are you, man?" he asked, his voice filled with urgency.
"I'm on my way home," William replied, gripping the steering wheel tightly. The road stretched out before him, the passing streetlights casting fleeting shadows on his face.
"Alright, don't worry," Jayden assured him. "I'll be there soon." With those comforting words, he ended the call, leaving William to his thoughts.
