The casual touch sent a violent, electric spark straight to my core. I didn't step back. I held his gaze, letting him see the feral hunger burning in my eyes. I wanted to win this game, but looking at him, I knew I wanted to break him, too. Franco finally stepped back, turning to the group. He held a flare gun in his right hand. "The rules are simple," Franco projected. "The first one to trigger the beacon at the summit wins the Social Tax. The last one to reach the halfway point by noon is eliminated from the living quarters. They become the Scavenger."

Rupert jokily said, and Campbell tittered, Cathy who was excited to meet Todd, didn't waste time rushing towards us. "Careful, you don't want to fall." She frowns looking at Campbell, although Campbell is the one carrying pup Cameron, he still cares about Cathy. "Give the young man a break, he only doesn't want his mate to get hurt." That was former Luna Oscar's voice, we turned and looked at her. "Welcome Mother." The three men said as we made our way to her leaving the kids in the hands of the men.

The teacher finally manages to catch their attention. “Listen up!” He says. “There are gonna be activities at the camp. All of you are requested to find your own partners and start planning. You’ll be spending time collecting resources, cooking, doing the dishes, and any other chore in the camp. We’ll be wandering deep into the woods so keep your compass and maps at hand.” The students begin to murmur and disperse to find a partner. Troy scans the crowd, looking for Kat. He hasn’t seen her earlier during the attendance call and he’s a bit worried. She promised she’ll be here…

Again, her phone buzzed and she hurriedly read the message, her face turning a dark shade of pink. He flipped some pages of the notebook and buried the pictures in between them before flipping the pages backwards. "Specific dates are fixed for the camp with different activities to be carried out on each of the nights. We have Sunday, Tuesday and Friday for the camp".

Both sides activated their magic cannon and loaded toward each other while the shields were basically mere decorations at this point. The magic cannon collided with each other and exploded. A second later, another cannon collided with each other and met a similar ending. Even if Cole wanted to understand their battle, he decided it was none of his business. As long as they could maintain the safety of their camp base, Cole had no complaints regarding them playing with each other. The camp base was important to them. We heard someone scream and I didn’t bother to know who it was before I ran inside, leaving Zayn outside.

The campfire crackled as Sophie added more wood just to keep it burning, Tiny little fireflies buzzed around playing around the tent and chuckling could be heard from the inside. They were still kissing, lazy and deep, when Silas’s voice boomed outside the tent. “Lovebirds! Sun’s up. We ride in twenty. Get your asses out here.” Cade flipped the tent flap the bird. Noah snorted. “Real mature.” They dressed fast. Noah pulled on jeans and one of Cade’s hoodies that smelled like home. Cade laced his boots, still limping a little but moving like a man on a mission. Outside, the camp was alive. Warriors sharpening blades. Nora handing out coffee like a pissed-off barista.

“HEY!! WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING?!” The shout ripped through the air, and Matthew’s head snapped toward the sound. That voice, it was so painfully familiar. The disaster itself had spoken. It was Mr. Yap, the guidance counselor. Shit. Shit. I’m doomed. “HEY! WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU’RE GOING?! COME BACK HERE!!” Mr. Yap yelled, just as Kaizer’s cousin bolted, disappearing in a flash and leaving Matthew alone. What the hell?
